It has almost been 10 years since I started this project. Thanks to everyone in the club for pointing me in the right direction and advise. Proud to say the 1976 FJ40 won 2nd place in the first car show its been entered. Never finished, but much closer.

Quick question... Why is there a Grand Cherokee parked next to it?

Great job!!

Long story, bought it from a guy in Garner in 1991 when I was in college and 21. Slowly worked on it, drove it and enjoyed it. Got married, had kids and sold it to my step moms brother. He didn't move it or title it from my name. Fast forward to 2009, I had a chance to buy it back, minus the engine. Turned it down, and my dad bought it and presented it to me Christmas day 2009. That's the before picture you see. R.K. found me a engine in Danville, Va, sandblasted the frame, OME suspension and kept buying Toyota parts when I could. Drove it until 2015 and disassembled it and took it to my painter/body guy. There he worked on it for 4 years to the month. Got it back this past August and reassembled it. Still have many things to do, side mirrors, radio delete etc. That's the short version anyway. One day, I hope put put all the pics together and make a story of it. For now, drive it and enjoy it and let others see it and appreciate it. Also, joined the club, let it lapse and rejoined back in July. Hope to get more involved and meet members.

4 years for a paint job?

Rust removal, body work and paint. Yes, best friend who does that work on the side. So at night and weekends, trust me, I called every month, nearly killed me to wait, but it was worth it.

Sounds easy, that's what I thought also. Maybe a month? But I must say, it is a lot of work, he is a perfectionist and it took time. I guess it could be done in 2 weeks but my rust issue was pretty extensive. Either way, I'm thankful to have it back and pleased with how it turned out.
