I am attempting to wire up the following:
-Fender mounted round style turn signals
-Bib mounted parking lights
-Apron mounted marker lights

The harness I have in the truck has 2 female bullet connectors (on each side) on green wires that I believe are the turn signal connectors.

I would like them all to behave the same way if possible: on with the parking and headlight positions of the headlight switch, flashing with turn signals.

Help?

Thanks,
mark

for the bib and apron marker lights you will need to re-wire them (including soldering and extra connection INSIDE the bulb socket. Currently those will only accept power to the parking light... if you wanted to put a double filiment bulb in them to make them "flash" you would need to do this modification. Sounds like you have a later model truck... it will work but you need to test which wires do what and then splice them to the lights.

there is a thread around here somewhere with the bib lights being modified...

So the 2 bullet connectors: one is parking and one is turn?
ANSWER: Yes.

And all lights have 2 wires, one ground and one power?
ANSWER: Yes.

How do the older style round turn signals work (what do each of the wires do)?
ANSWER: Flash only.

without seeing pictures of what you actually have... yes?

Those connectors should have a parking light wire and a blinker wire. The fender lights ground through the fender.

This shouldn't be too confusing - you can wire them up temporarily just to make sure you don't mess it up. There are only two possible combinations (park or blinker). The white wire with black stripe is just a ground.

Edit: looks like your fender lights are just blink - no park - I've never seen a round style up close but it seems that way from a picture on CCOT website

Thanks all... i figured it out. Once again I've managed to make the simple into a complicated mess. Yes, one bullet park, one turn... black/white is ground.

The round fender lights have 2 wires and flash only (I guess) I think they would need a third wire and a dual filament socket and bulb to park and flash. (I'll get to that someday)

For now the bib and aprons are just parking. One day I'll build something to make them flash too but for now I'm good.

Again... thank you.

If you REALLY want the bib lights to flash it's simply a matter of using two +12V relays whose coils are powered by the LEFT or RIGHT turn signal wires. Use the N.C. (Normally closed ) contacts inserted in series with the bib light you want to flash. When the turn signal is NOT flashing the Bib light will work as normal IE park function. If park is on and you turn on a signal then the relay contacts open and close causing the Bib light to now flash. When the turn signal is turned off the NC contacts close restoring the Bib light to park function. No re-wiring the Bib lights.

If you REALLY want the bib lights to flash...

Thanks Mark... this is the solution I was hoping for.... although I think I might leave the bib lights on park and have the apron markers flash with the turns.

Any reason why this be used to make the (single bulb, single filament) round fender mount turn signals work this way too: so that they would be on as parking lights normally and then flash with the turn switch on?

it was way easier to get this done for me.. The front bib lights have the second hole just no wire if i recall correctly. or i popped out the base of the bulb to change from an 1186 to 1187 with 2 wires.
the side marker light i cut the base with a plumbing tubing cutter. Slid a new socket in, tacked it in place. for some reason I didn't pop the base out of the side marker lights.

and the round turn signals on the fenders are just that.. turn signals.
