Hi all,

Just wondering if any turbo experts can help me understand the difference between the following 2 turbos for a 1HD-FT running around 18-20psi...

Mambatek 9-11GTX TD05H 18G
Compressor Wheel : 50.39 / 68 mm (11+0 Blade 18G Billet Wheel w/ Extended Tip)

Turbine Wheel : 49.2 / 56 mm (9 Blade TD05H Turbine Wheel)

And

Mambatek 12-6 TD05H 18G
Compressor Wheel : 50.39 / 68mm (6+6 Blade 18G Billet Wheel w/ Extended Tip)

Turbine Wheel : 49.2 / 56 mm (12 Blade TD05H Turbine Wheel)

Essentially its just the blade count... which one is better suited?

Cheers, Errol

Both those turbos can run 20psi perfectly fine but they will both be completely different in how they perform. I'd strongly urge you to also look at the CT26 size offerings as the little td05h turbine can be troublesome depending on how you use your vehicle and performance goals.

Different compressor design, different turbine design.
You'd have to find maps for each compressor. Design details like blade tip backsweep or extension can massively change the map and operating speeds.

My pet theory is more equal blades are more efficient but over a smaller operating range. Fewer blades at entry usually have lower peak efficiency but wider peak efficiency.
