I just recently had the " reinforcement plate" installed on my '07 Tundra as part of the accelerator pedal recall. The truck seems to now have erratic throttle response. It feels like my 40 in 4WD on a trail, and is very touchy. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? Thanks!

Mine has been like that since driving off the lot. I had the recall done and nothin changed. I'm just used to it I guess. I have heard of others that didn't have the symptoms before but had them after like you. Take it back and have a new accelerator put on at no charge. I would not have had it put in but I fel compelled since my wife drives it most of the time.

Thank you for the response. I wasn't worried about it either, but incase my wife drives it, I felt more comfortable knowing it was completed. :cheers:Brendon

I just had the recall done on my 08 tundra and noticed it a little more. From the time I drove it off the lot it seemed really touchy when accelerating. I notice especially if I go through a dip or bump from a stop.

Thats what mine has always been like when going over bumps. My dealer knew I was apprehensive about getting the recall done and I have heard from others that if you do not like the feel of your accelerator they will take the shim out and put a new designed accelerator in it that should solve the touchy/jumpy accelerator.

Keep us posted what you did, I did a 250 mile drive the day after I had mine done and I didnt mind it, like I said though, I didnt notice it a whole lot!

My guess is that it has more to do with the reflash than the assembly. It could even just be that your computer has to relearn your driving style.

I've never been happy with the calibration of my pedal. half throttle and full throttle seem to be just about the same.

I called my dealer today and told them about my issue and that it seems even more jumpy than before. He said he would order a new pedal assembly and install it under the recall warranty. I have 40,500 on my Tundra and will be interested to see how the new pedal feels. From day one, that has been my only complaint about the truck.

Me too! Please let us know after an update with the new pedal!

The installation of the reinforcement bar lessens the friction which was originally built into the pedal. You now feel like you are pressing on a spring. The updated pedal restores some of that friction, using a different material and less surface area where the friction occurs. When the dealer gets your new pedal, ask them if they'll take the back plates off of both pedals and show you the difference.

The A0A Service Campaign does not include a reflash, only the installation of the reinforcement bar. When the Tundra becomes part of the 90L Campaign, the PCM will be reflashed with the brake override function.

I got my new pedal installed and really can't tell a difference between the old and new. It is still very "jumpy" when starting from a stop and hitting a pot hole or going through a dip. I was really hoping that this would solve that issue, being that that is my only gripe about my Tundra since I bought it new in 08. Oh well.

I was wrong.
It came out on the 20th, and doesn't include a reflash. Toyota says their research shows it's not necessary on this model. They have also said they will have brake override software on all(?) Toyota vehicles in the near future. The vehicles will come from the factory that way, it's mainly a matter of having the manpower to rewrite all the code for so many models.

Thanks for all of the information! I have yet to notify the dealer yet:doh:. I will make that call tomorrow.
