1971/74 Toyota FJ-55 Land cruiser. Two clean and clear Arizona titles from dismantling several vehicles, but have only one 1974 body with matching VIN# on frame. The 1971 title has both VIN and Frame plate ID tags.

This was going to be a custom rebuild with Chevy drivetrain and welding on an early seventies Volkswagen pop-up camper on top (since he measurements are exact) for a pop-top back country camper, which has been done by others and a popular off-road set-up. It comes with the VW bus metal top and mechanism cut off and all pop-up hardware, including two fiberglass tops. It also includes a new canvas and screen pop-up tent for that year VW bus.

The rig comes with a freshly rebuilt 305 roller cam Chevy small block out of a high performance Camaro. It’s been custom modified with dual compressors (AC + Air), a high out put alternator, and a Holley throttle body dual fuel injectors with an Edelbrock RV intake manifold. It can also be set-up with GM fuel and ignition systems.

The exhaust is set-up for a single pipe using a Corvette reverse flow crossover exhaust manifold for maximum torque and alignment with a single stock exhaust configuration. (no mufflers, etc included).

There’s a new Griffin high performance 4 row aluminum radiator and customized cowling for the radiator that will fit the Landcruiser body. Along with new brake components design to marry to the body such as power steering booster and master brake cylinder. The front end has a Toyota 1976 front member with factory disc brakes and a kit for rear brake disc’s designed to work with GM Cadillac center-pull emergency brake pistons and rotors (not included). There are 4:10 gears in the hubs, but the sale includes two hubs with 3.73 gears to swap out if one is looking for better highway speeds, rather than rock climbing torque. In relation to this, the engines custom drive chain is adjustable and was set to lower timing and get maximum torque at low RPM. This can be changed back if desired.

There’s a Vintage Air aftermarket AC/Heat system that bolts into the stock location. Along with a separate over the head AC system out of a Nissan van that was going to be put in the rear above the passenger seats. It’s used, but the Vintage Air system is new with ports to run tubing to the side of the front dash. There are two Spector vinyl dash covers for a new looking dash.

There’s a remote door opening and closing kit, along with cruise control (I think, so much stuff) ☺

Drivetrain wise, there’s a Chevy 700/R4 transmission I bought that was supposedly rebuilt (evidence of such) but never used and out of a Suburban. The setup includes brand new unopened adaptors from Advance Adapters to make it all work. In addition, there is a 4 speed SM320 granny gear manual tranny with adapter and pressure plate and flywheel if you want to go manual over automatic.

This was a project that has been in the works for years, but a heart attack and age has changed my priorities. Included with this is cabinets full of spare parts, body parts, trim, wiper and rear hatch door motors and mechanisms, extra sets of doors, a 1978 hood with factory air scoop and standard 73 hood, extra gas tank, drive shafts, springs all collected over the years. Too much to list, but worth some $$ on the used parts market. While there are stock hubcaps, currently the vehicle has 16” magnesium American solid racing rims.

This stuff has been sitting for years, mostly indoors, much in the vehicle, as I ran out of storage space, so the pack rats got as some of the boxes and there’s a light coat of surface rust on some things, like gears, but no pitting that I can see. The body is an Arizona body with some rust in the typical places and on the left rear quarter panel which the pack rats used as a bathroom and who’s urine rusted the metal through. All which can be repaired. Most of it is intact with no rust in the floor boards or top, including the frame. The “Iron Pigs” were known to rust, so not many have not gone through some body work.

I’ve done the research and acquisition for most of the parts to make this a Chevy/GM operational vehicle, which was a lot of work for those who want easily replaceable parts while on the road.

Most everything is there for the person who wants to build a wagon into a pop-up camper rig for special off-road events from ground up.. It’s a project I no longer have time and desire to do.

Given the rebuilt motor and Advance adapters cost more, this is a fantastic deal. The spare parts from Arizona alone will pay for most of the purchase.

Odometer: None in dash, but have many. Actual mileage is not known for this reason. 100,000+
