The software and dies have arrived! Still waiting on the bender and base...I'll post up when it arrives. The plan is to trot it out to Tom's shop after everything shows up at my place (it's in transit). We can then coordinate with Tom on setting up a Tubing Bender "party" to assemble and play with our new toy.

Ryan Bascome of On The Road Again Mobile Mechanic (OTRAMM) and BelowDecksFab fame has graciously agreed to conduct a tubing bender "tech day" to teach us how to properly and safely use our new club toy. Date, time and location to be determined but we are shooting or late Sept/early October.

More info will be posted after we get the details worked out.
 
Do you want to use my spare laptop? For the software.

I agree I think this will save use a lot of money on tube. It will lessen the OOPS! Factor.

I also have a wi-Fi dongle for the laptop to print to a wi-Fi printer or wi-fi print server.

Seriously, BMG seems to be reasonable but I've only bought odd cuts by the pound. Not sure how competitive their prices are on DOM tubing. It isn't going to be cheap no matter what.
 
The only way it seems to get a good deal on DOM is to buy in bulk and have it delivered to a commercial address. I remember Ryan used to get some good deals when he bought in bulk from some supplier in PA, NY, or OH.

Someone should put together a group buy. Years ago when I called around to the local suppliers, none carried DOM in stock, so it was a special order, and the prices they quoted were outrageous.
 
Come on, this is Virginia... there's gotta be some race car chassis builders around that stock the stuff. That is how I got mine...in Canada of all places. http://www.lejeuneracecars.com/sprint.htm they did alot of cool stuff.
 
Theres a dude in Funchester that keeps it stocked. Chassis builder out on 50 west towards Gore.
 
I'll cruse up that way some day and see if I can find him. Do you have any more info?

I just pmed a guy on the VA Crawlers forum about tubing we can see what prices he has.

The dude at ORI told me about him. His shop is at his house down the road past Stuart Perry. I cant remember what I did 2 hours ago, much less the guys name. ORI would be able to tell you though.
 
I buy all my metal from BMG and I've scoured places within 75 miles of 20886 and came up with nothing better.

Their prices are good and I can have 20' sticks dropped at work with free delivery on orders over $150
 
There is a guy in stephen city selling 1.75 120 wall 4130 in 19 foot sticks for $3 a foot. Heres his post on another forum.




Bought out dillsburgs stock since they are out of business, I have 400 feet to sell. I am asking $3 a foot, 19 foot sticks, I can cut it if needed to haul. You can buy as much or as little as you need. Call or text 540-336-8135. Located in Stephens city, VA.

I tried to test the Bend-tech Pro software today, but I was not authorized to register it. I think they register the software key with the purchaser. What ever computer we load it on, it appears we will need to load hakalugi's info to install it. As long as it is registered on only on one computer, we are within the license agreement.
 
hmm, I can't find that... The pro version we have has a plate bending module included.
