i am doing a head gasket, which turned into a seal/gasket kit, which turned into a timing chain (since i was going to have it torn apart anyway) sequence schmequence. can't wait till i'm the one pointing out sequence mistakes. soon enough i guess cuz i can do #&$*%ing anything. thanks still.

I had the same problem on my 97 cruiser. I actually ended up doing an entire rebuild on the engine and I tried a 24" cheater bar with a 6 ft extention and still couldn't get it to budge. I finally gave up and took the engine block down to the machine shop where he had a 700 ft/lb impact wrench. The machinist said it would break it loose without a problem. He fired up his compressor and gave it a go.....no luck and it wouldn't budge. It did finally come loose but he had to take a torch to it and also a punch and large sledge hammer. I think the starter method might be your best option with it in the vehicle. And yes it is normal thread pattern (I questioned this myself after all my struggles) :)

3/4 inch braker bar and a chain wrench to hold it in place.
