So I have been making some threats lately about trying to slow down the lifestyle and relax a bit more. I've been keeping an eye out for a cabin in the NC mtns in decent shape...you know, something small enough that it will be cheap and easy to maintain but in a good location, wooded, where the :princess: and I can crash on the weekends and for vacations.

I emailed the :princess: this listing - Mountain Property, Real Estate.

The first thing she said was "The monkeys would have to wipe their shoes off before they came inside." The cabin is in Murphy...wouldn't that be sweet. And by 'monkeys' she means all y'all...

Look in Jackson county too Steve. Alot of people are looking to unload cabins in this area. If you need me to scope any out before you make the drive up let me know.

sweet steve........ can you go ahead and make me a spare key :D

No spare keys - I will have a keypad for Monkey entrance!

Mercy me, that thing has running water and power! :hillbilly:
Them thar is fancy digs.

Have to make sure the :princess: will stay for extended periods!

Will do.

With that shared riverfront property, there may be a Homeowner's Association lurking. ;)

I've been spending a lot of time in West Jefferson for business lately and have been over to Lansing to grab lunch. It is a neat little mountain community that definitely subscribes to slowing down and relaxing. Ashe County is one of my favorite areas of NC.

Great hunting and fishing too!

My worry about Lansing NC is there wouldn't be enough traffic to support a business like that well enough...what do you think?

Yep, I'd have the same concern. It is a one stop light town...

I guess the good news for a potential business owner is that the area is growing like mad. West Jefferson is a few minutes away and is the midst of real boom growth-wise.

West Jefferson seems to be the new Cashiers, Highlands, etc. I can only hope that's not the case for selfish reasons...

I'm sure they'd let you look at their financials as part of your due diligence but it is a valid concern IMO.

Steve,
I'd be happy to look at those financials with/for you if you want a second opinion... It's what I do.

That is just the kind of thing I'll be looking for in 10 yrs or so when I'm done with this rat race.
