Did my second oil change on my new-to-me 2011 LX today.
I was excited to install two parts I had queued up: a Fumoto valve, and the Venza oil filter housing (p/n 15620-31060)... as detailed by @bjowett in this post).
All went well until I was all finished with the oil change (including installing the 15620-31060 oil filter housing).
The problem: oil was seeping around and dripping down from the oil filter housing drain plug. I took the drain plug off, and discovered that oil was seeping out from the oil filter housing. Not fast, but steadily dripping.
I can't figure out why this happened. I used the drain valve "disc" that came with the Venza housing. It looks exactly the same as the stock one. Notably, it looks different than the one pictured in Bjowett's post. Also, it doesn't seem to seat well at the bottom of the housing; it wobbles versus seating in securely to the bottom). See this video. I wonder if that is causing the issue.
To resolve the situation, I took the Venza filter out and put the stock one back in (swapping back in the stock tube, of course). All good.
I also included a picture of the oil filter housing drain plug, but I don't think that's the issue.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thx!
