I don't know if I set some kinda record, but today I replaced the original 27F Panasonic battery that came on my 05 100 series purchased in 8/04. I live in PA. It still turned the car over and ran fine with temperature in the teens around here, but it was starting to get a little sluggish on startup. Load test showed 307 out of rated 700 CCA.

The guy at the shop said he never saw a battery last longer than ten years. This one made it 13 years four months.

I would have paid dearly for an identical replacement but I don't think this particular battery can be had except if you buy the truck along with it.

It did its job, now let it rest and become an organ donor. I have an AutoCrap battery that just won't die, i'm just waiting for an excuse to get a red top or Odyssey platinum.

Panasonic seems to make good automotive batteries. The one in my 91 Mazda B2600 (my first brand new 4X4) was still going strong when I sold the truck 11 years later. It seems the best I can manage on replacement batteries is 6-12 months after the warranty expires.

Stories of the OEM Panasonic lasting forever are all over the FJ cruiser Forum boards.....13 years is definitely on the top end though! I think I read they're only available in Japan and they can be had here, but for a small fortune - something like the cost of 2 31M PC2150 Odysseys if I remember correctly

Panasonic is one of the highest quality oem battery manufactures. The Nickle batteries utilized in the older Toyota Prius and many other hybrids are designed and manufactured by Panasonic as well. I’ve replaced about 8 of the 28 cells in my Prius hybrid battery and it’s amazing how much capacity 12 year old, 160,000 mile battery cells can hold.

Our 08 FJ Cruiser is still using it Panasonic battery....amazing.

Those are good batteries. Not sure if you can buy genuine ones in the United States.

you can get them but its stooped money to buy, youd be better off getting the truestart or true2 replacement for a fraction of the cost and itll have a warrantee at any Toyota dealership.

the original Panasonic on my parents previa lasted 9 years before my dad replaced it just because and it was still going strong

Costco. Interstate brand battery. Four years free replacement no questions asked. Done.

I have 2007 FJ (Bought it in April 2016) One of the first FJ's sold in SD. The cold weather in the mountains finally got to the Panasonic battery, but it lasted over 12 years! She will not hold a charge any longer. If I drove vehicle everyday, it would have still been okay but now, it loses charge in less than 5 days... Too bad Panosonic does not offer this battery in US- They would make a fortune! Seems like all other batteries out there are crap compared to the Panosonic- I do recommend Bosch, but they do not hold a charge if vehicle sits too long.

The original Panasonic in my 2005 LX is still going strong, all of it it in harsh Western NY, as is the original one in my 2007 FJ. Tough batteries, these.

I picked one up from a 2017 200 series at a local swap meet, zero dollars. It is fantastic! I wish they sold them here. Feels like quality. Now i need another for my dual battery setup.

Better than all these Johnson controls garbage out there.

The original battery was finally replaced. Longest lasting battery I have ever used, by far.

The one in my old 2000 died in 2012. Pretty good run.

I got 11 years out of my Japan Panasonic. It was a really great battery. But, since then, I have learned the secret. Almost any battery will last far beyond it's design rating on a BatteryMinder or equivalent. The discipline is to plug it in nearly every evening. THis makes the battery almost immortal. You need to really care about 12 volts to do this, but if you keep the battery charged and on a stepped charger it will go double it's design life if not more.

I found this post while searching for replacement batteries for my 2002 Hilux. I have two original Panasonic batteries in my Hilux and while they have recently become a bit sluggish they still start the engine. They are 16 years old (17 years this coming September). I would like to replacement with more Panasonic batteries but they do not seem to be available. I am very impressed they have lasted so long and are not dead yet.

I had a 1986 Mazda B2000 and it still had the original battery when I sold it after 11 years also. Just like yours, it was still going strong.
