Please make any suggestions on meeting locations based on our needs:
  • Food is available
  • Parking together in a row is possible on site or nearby
  • Reasonably central location / nearby main highways
  • Not so busy or so small that we can't get a table for 15-20 people - so no Taco Tuesdays

1 - Bad Daddy's Burger Bar - Wendover Ave (Greensboro)
2 - Blue Rock Pizza and Tap - High Point
3 - Mac's Speed Shop - Battleground, Greensboro
4 - Camel City BBQ - Winston Salem
5 - 66 Grill and Taphouse - Kernersville (new suggestion)
6 - RODY's Tavern - Greensboro (new suggestion)
7 - Buffalo Wild Wings - Burlington (new suggestion)

I'm okay with being shot down if this is wrong, however, my observation is that attendance to events in the past has been less a function of "where are we meeting" and more "Sorry, I'm busy". As such, the only needs we need to adhere to are "family friendly" and plenty parking. As a matter of curtesy, I agree with Jason's point regarding staying somewhere along the I-40 corridor but beyond that we should feel free to continue experimenting with whatever locations happen to catch our attention.

Hijack off.

Maybe for the new year we could experiment with different days for the get togethers. Personally I can make Tuesday nights because I don't have any responsibilities like children or other conflicts. I know the CLT group meets on Sunday afternoons which might work. Just a suggestion and my pennies worth.

Mmmm. Like the flaky layers of a grands biscuit. Good inputs.

In response to both of those thoughts. The only reason I threw out first Tuesdays was a) to get us back started on regular meeting schedule and b) for predictability and ability to plan around it. Day doesnt matter to me.

My thoughts on attendance were kinda opposite of Rices and not so much sorry im busy but rather where are we meeting BUT not due to location but rather lack of advance notice that allowed point b above allowing people to plan. I really liked the idea of floating location but fact is it hasnt been working that great. HOWEVER I would say thats mostly due to lack of advance notice over the actual location aspect. Like this past month, too many meetings are posted up too short notice in advance, too many threads started by original poster without a destination but rather a question of where to meet, half of them posted by anderson from out of state who wasnt going to be in attendance. (Not knockin ya buddy as it was good jab for us to get planning)

I was simlply suggesting regular place and time as a means of making it easier on the group as a whole as decision making doesnt seem to be our strong suit :grinpimp: and of course for the FB only followers. Meetings could successfully float on say the second _____day of the month if it was posted up by the first of the month.

Keep the thoughts coming but ill let James figure out how to put it all in a multidimensional poll

Thanks Jason. Good analysis! I'm sure the adult minds in the room can come up with a solution or solutions that will make us a better and stronger club with more room for everyone. Personally I am looking forward to next year to see what it will bring.

The other option is to pick a date and stick with the date no matter what day of the week it is.

Running another club where weekend days are our only opportunities to do something, it's tough to get and keep large participation consistent. Some have kids activities, some have grandkid activities, and some have other activities they like to do, also only on weekends. throw in errands, and the usual stuff that has to get done, and it's tough. weekend nights at restaurants also make for a harder time to accommodate a large group (12 or more).

I like the idea of bouncing between the two bad daddy burger places in gso and winston. both have indoor and outdoor seating, variety of menus, and are easy interstate access. there are some new places in the same strip as the gso location. maybe we do that Jan thru april, and then reevaluate for the next 3 or 4 months.

weekday nights usually aren't as crowded, as long as we dont do a taco Tuesday thing.

I'm hoping to be able to attend some more things in 2020. At this point, I was happy I made it thru Tuesdays dinner with only 3 phone calls, and not making it a to go order. Stupid fire alarm chirp sent the quadruped into overdrive, which stressed out the already stressed out biped at home. LOL

God help you if we pick the place by your house and we all drive 30 minutes to get there and you can’t make it. ;)

Not that it’s happened before. Cough, cough. Winston

I’m a big fan of wings so I’m definitely down.

Haha duly noted! Was just thinking about parking, I know Rody's in GSO has good parking too. Same weekend rules would apply there for football as that place packs up too.

Buffalo Wild Wings in Burlington, NC
Not that I come to many meetings in the area, but BWW? My experience in every single one I've visited in any city in any state has been one of barely-mediocre food, service bordering on nonexistent, and oftentimes uncleaned tables and floors (Monroe, NC, I'm looking at you!). One day I'll stumble onto the one that has to be so great that it rakes in enough cash to keep the entire chain in business. Maybe that's the one in Burlington?

This is the rant thread, right?

i like the commitment to fine dining for these meetups. There is a Ruth’s Chris in Greensboro off greenvalley with a pretty big parking lot!

if we all respond to the neat business card, we can get a free dinner at ruth's Chris, we just have to listen to a nice gentleman talk for a little while about our money

I mean if he can get a word in edgewise with me.... the newly christened "Rambling Man"... :)

could you imagine the heckling that guy would receive? and at the end of dinner, he hears

Sorry dude, most of our money is sitting in the parkin lot. LOL

I hesitate to post this fearing any confusion about a meet-up place but.....Brewers Kettle has opened in High Point on Main St. There is a restaurant in the same building, I haven't been there yet, Zaxbys is next door and McDonalds is next to Zaxbys and there is amble parking in the lot behind the building.

The Brewers kettle has been in High Point for quite a while but that new location is much better for parking for sure. I’ve heard Pauls new restaurant is a little bit pricey and so so reviews. Let’s keep it in one locale/venue for the eve vs separate bottle shop and restaurant to make ordering and time line easier on everyone.

actually just logged in to post up bad daddy’s on Wendover 1/7/20 since we did Winston and high point last and it seems to be the best option mentioned for moving forward so far.

Let’s try and wrap this thread up folks. If you are a regular attendee please speak up with which days do NOT work for you due to kid or work obligations. . If there are no consistent conflicts I say leave it as is and pick a spot to be our regular place. Or If it allows greater attendance one Winston (even months) and one Greensboro (odd months) since High Point is right in between with decent access to both
