Great idea. My only initial concern is whether adhesive velcro will actually stick to the somewhat textured tailgate plastic. I'll test it out!

Contact 3M directly and let them know what your application is about. They have some insane products. Don't do a web search just call them. We use them all the time at work. Bought some insane double sided tape from them for a project. Took two pieces of wood and taped them together. 15 minutes it pulled apart. After 1 hour, like the instructions stated, we tried to split the joint with a steel wedge and sledge hammer. The oak tore apart with the grain and the taped "joint" did not split or move. Mind blown.

Hi David - Is black the only color option? How about terra or brown?
Black only. I haven’t found any other colors in the poly vinyl that I like. The grays are too light and no browns that are any good. Not to mention I don’t sell a bazillion of these things, and have to buy 100 yards of material at a time.

Alright, folks. Padded cover only option now available. Allows you to retain the stock compartments and add the removable padded cover.

Awesome. Just put in my order for the padded cover only. I like the idea of retaining the two small storage bins in the tailgate so having the padded cover will allow me to still have access to them and prevents the carpet from getting all grimy if I want to sit, stand or place items on the tailgate. Will post up when I install it.

Adding my contribution here. Every 200 series needs one!!!

Any forum or military discounts on the website?

Do you know use the provided snap kit or did you Velcro it on? I just ordered one Friday.

Yep, I used the snap kit. They provide a template for drilling although it took a minute for me to mark it correctly. They only provide the template for one side and then you just flip it over to mark the other side. The problem with that is that you'd have to make sure you line it up equally for the other side as well or the snaps might not line up. That was the most tricky part of the install. I didn't think to use velcro but that would seem like a good idea as well.

Love it and think I'll be ordering one. How does the mounting setup look like with the pad off?

It's just the 6 button snaps underneath

Not to gush over a product too much but this is a prime example of why the padded cover is so useful. Even with the wind and splash screen up you can still see the cooking grease splatter on to the tailgate to the left. It was easy to clean and wipe off but if that was just carpet it would be stained in there. Can't say enough good things about it and find it to be such a useful product. One of those simple, cheap and easy mods that make a big difference in functionality.

How was the heat of the stove itself on the pad material?

Hmm I didn't even think about that. It was already a 95F day so I think everything felt hot as it was lol. The material looks fine though, no warping or anything. I'll have to monitor it if I cook something for a longer period of time since hot dogs are relatively quick to cook.

Defiantly will be picking one of these up! Not sure if I’ll just do the padded cover or get a hard surface option. Drives me crazy sliding dirty ice chests and boxes in the back of my truck knowing I’ll get the carpet so dirty.

Stoves are typically cool to the touch below the burners
