LOL, those are located in my "office".

Here is what makes this shock so great, the ZoneControlR. This supplies a full 3 stages of compression dampening with excellent bottom out
control. First picture shows the goods. The next 3 pictures show how it works. Oil is forced though the tip of the rod, which is actually small piston, as it compresses the two cylinders. The second cylinder is larger than the first, so it displaces more oil and creates the stronger third stage. This stuff is gold! Larger reservoirs can be added, and possibly the ACV if a proper main piston valve stack can be developed.

That's pretty cool

So Brian
You think you'll be able to put something together with the piggyback reserve?
Compared to the Konis what characteristics are you expecting. The reviews I read on TRD Pro tundra say that it is by far the most comfortable tundra.
I've finally got my truck dialed in but if they'll be even better I'm in.

Here's a very small quote from Motor Trend about the new Tundra TRD Pro and its shocks

Brian.
Is this what you were thinking for the rear to go along with the 6112s in the front?

Shock envy.
Eighth shock must be the TRD Pro rear.
Are the 6112 and the TRD pros internals similar?
I'm on the edge of my seat, wallet open!
I'm only 2 hours from you. Wink!

That 8th shock is the TRD Pro rear. It is based on the 6112 Series, they share the main 60mm piston, body, and 18mm shaft. The Pro version gains a little more travel, the 3 stage compression/bump stops, billet end mounts, and reservoirs.

I'm dying to see what you come up with Brian! I get my Cruiser on Thursday and have tires and wheels ordered, but waiting on your research to pull the trigger on shocks. I have been driving a couple successive 4Runners and have used the Bilstein 5100's for a mild lift with great results. Ideally, we'd have an option for 1-2" of lift with the stock springs since I am not going to armor the truck beyond sliders...at least for now.

So great to have someone like you going into the rabbit hole on this stuff. :)

Brian,
I'm certainly interested in your solution and have been looking at options for a few months. This sounds like it might just be the ticket!
Thanks for doing the legwork and exploration!

Brian is sending me the first set of 6112s for the front and "something" for the rear to test and evaluate. I have ordered new strut hardware from Beno so I don't have to disassemble the Koni 90s.
Including OEM, this will be my fifth set of shocks. Can't wait to compare them to the awesome Konis.
Anthony

I'm just waiting for the Jowett 200 Series Land Cruiser TRD package (appropriately modified genuine Toyota suspension, skid plates, big brake kit, badges, and hopefully a TRD supercharger option) to debut...

Yeah I'm waiting for that too.

One of many interesting facts I picked up on the Tundra forum is the TRD Pro shocks as an accessory will have a one year warranty while genuine Bilsteins have Lifetime warranty.
I used that warranty twice on my 100 when the shaft snapped at the threads. New shocks, no questions.

Oh and when Brian gets the TRD Pros worked out I will try them too.

Brian sent me the Bilstein 6112 front shocks and they arrived last Saturday. I also have all new hardware from Beno so I don't have to disassemble the Konis. The Bilsteins were missing one minor spacer which Brian is sourcing or making. He's also working on a solution for the rear for his own truck and mine. If I ask too many questions it'll just take him away from finishing his beast.
As soon as I have all the parts in hand I will install and report. Brian and I are less than 3 hours from each other so when we're both done we'll meet and and compare the shocks.
If I like the Billys the Konis will be for sale. Inbox me if you're interested as there is a line forming for the Konis. No one in the U.S. Has them available.
