I have a cracked exhaust manifold on my 85 4Runner, and came across a great deal on a NEW TRD header. ($250 :D ) Is this a good one? It's a 4-into-1 design which is allegedly better than a Tri-Y, anyone have experience with these? Do I HAVE to re-cam it to make this header work? Yes it has a 02 sensor bung already welded in place...

Well, I don't agree that a 4-1 is better than a tri-y. But then again, I've only run tri-y :grinpimp:

I don't think you need to recam, but it can't hurt. When I dropped in my new DOA motor I used the stock exhaust. A few months later I installed my Thorley into a 2.25" exhaust and the motor really came alive.

My other comment is about the Ox sensor. I ran the sensor off the header and started having problems with passing smog. So I took the truck to a muffler shop and had them install a bung between the header and the cat. I then installed a three wire heated sensor. My emissions went from sky hi to the lowerest I've ever seen in owning the truck 15 years.

The sensor bung is in the pipe TRD supplies, it's upstream of the CAT and in "about" the same place as stock...

I'll let ya know...

I seem to recall that now you say it. As long as it reads all four cylinders it will be good. Consider getting a heated sensor. At idle the exhaust will cool and mess up your readings.
