Transmission stuck in third gear.

I have a HZJ73 5spd. Some arse (me) left it in neutral without emerg. brake pulled. it rolled down a small hill, probably going 2mph max, and hit a tree and came to an abrupt stop. The tree is fine but the transmission has locked itself in third. Hi/Lo works, clutch works and drives okay in that gear. Shifter is stuck in neutral. Rocking, driving, moving does not help. My guess is that sudden stop slid transmission into third and likely top of transmission needs to come off. Anyone seen this before. Any advice appreciated other than to do with my driving habits....

On top of your 5th gear housing of your trans there is an actuator with a rubber boot on it.
When i rebuilt my transfer case I has a similar issue of not being able to get it into gear as I pushed it out or in I forget. When I pushed it back into it's correct position it fixed the problem.
