Follow up to previous thread.

Have had 2 shops look at LC and being told will need new transmission. Quoted 4300 installed for used at both places. First shop doesnt rebuild... 2nd shop AAMCO hasnt rebuilt a LC and thinks could be more expensive. 2nd shop looking for reman unit .

Looking for idea what others have paid. Appreciate any insight.

2001 LC with 263k . Transmission gave light shudder going down road... then at next stop light out of gear, no thump, just no power connecting . Never any shifting issues before.

Not sure off hand but here are a few resources to try out

This definitely isn't current, but I have a 2001 LX and previous owner replaced transmission with factory reman at Lexus dealer in Chattanooga in Dec 2018 for $3378- 2960 parts, 414 labor . It would be intersting to get a quote from dealer for replacement for comparison/good laugh. Good luck.

I just had my 01 LC100 rebuilt in Crossville. I paid a $3700.

Good luck.

Transmission rebuilders can be notoriously untrustworthy so proceed with caution. Hard to know what the real issue is- I would start at the valve body and test the solenoids that you can easily access to rule them out, inspect connectors and wires etc. Steer clear of AAMCO since they dont know your platform.- no way Id pay someone $4000 to learn on my truck.

The re-man part number for the 98-2002 found Toyota's parts website is 350106-A020-84 $2900 MSRP and $2600 at Marietta Toyota- 1 hour drive from Chattanooga. I would buy the Toyota reman, which comes with warranty- and have ACC or another competent Toyota shop do it down here in Atlanta. Get a buddy or rent a truck and trailer - haul it down here. Or buy it from the parts department and take it to the service department to have them install it

The Toyota remans do not come with warranty unless a Toyota dealer preforms the work. I was quoted $3800 for the trans and $180/hr for labor. The job was quoted at 12 hours.

Called a few dealerships... at this point would jump on a sub 3k reman unit. But apparently this transmission is on back order/ discontinued depending on which parts department I get.
