I posted this on the drain/refill thread over at the GX460 ClubLexus forum, but thought it may prove useful here as well.

This was the Blackstone report on my new-to-me 2010 GX460 with 10 years 2 months & 106,300 miles on the factory fill transmission fluid. While a transmission flush may not be recommended on the transmission (dislodging metal particles), drain/refills are recommended.

Other than the copper it looks great for the age. I use Blackstone for oil analysis on my dirt bikes/motorcycles.

Am I reading that correct in saying to go ANOTHER 100k miles on original fluid and test again?

They recommended doing drain/fills, which is where I got the first sample from. (They knew I was doing drain/fills) I did a total of 8 drain/fills @ 3 qts per fill, so when you run the calculations, I now have >90% new fluid without dislodging any metals from a complete transmission "flush." Good thread on it over at CL forum.

Just purchased a 2004 GX with about 200k, the analysis below was done on what I believe was the original transmission fluid. Blackstone mentions the high metal content is likely due to break in but you can see from previous analysis my numbers are more likely from not being changed for 200k.
Posting here to reinforce how metal content can get off the rails after 100k if the fluid is not changed. Also probably worth noting mine shifts perfectly (for now) if I’m driving it soft or hard.

It's interesting that the actual properties are good for both samples! I changed my OEM fluid at 135K and noticed no difference in shift quality, although the OEM fluid was pretty dark (and likely full of metals). Either way, a full exchange with MaxLife ATF costs <$100 as a DIY, so it's cheap insurance (IMO). I intend to change mine every 60K from here on out.

I think the manual states to it change out every 60k under severe duty (frequent off roading, towing, etc)…

Personally I’d do it regardless of how the vehicle is used… that lifetime crap is a bunch of bullsh!t
