Hi, Any thoughts on what's better? B and M 70268 or Hayden 1678 or 1679 ? Any advantages to any one over the other ? Thanks, Mike

I installed the b&m you referenced on my fj62. Very simple install, just needed another length of hose. Otherwise just used the included fittings. Performance wise i am seeing about 10-20 degrees lower than before the cooler. I know your question was about which to choose... unfortunately I can’t compare actual results between the two but maybe someone who’s installed the Hayden can add their results.

Thanks, I had several fj80 coolers around and I was going to use them but they are too big to place in the fj62 space between the grill and radiator. Mike

I also used the B and M 70268 and run it in series with the radiator cooler. Only extra part I bought was a straight piece coming out of passenger side radiator fitting. I had previously got rid of the AC so it made install real easy.

I'd get the bigger/biggest one. I put a slightly smaller Hayden in my '62 and while it cools the ATF, I wish it cooled more.

When I installed a Hayden 679, I had to fabricate some retaining hardware so the cooler could reuse the radiator bolts instead of those goofy zip ties. Haven't overheated since doing the install though.

Sounds like the B&M options come with better mounting solutions.

I refuse to use the zip ties through the radiator. I mounted mine below the hood latch, and used one of the hood latch bolts as part of my fabbed mounting system.

I am about to pull the trigger on the BM 70268, it seems beefier than the Hayden and is only $30 more ( plus seems to have more bracket configuration options).

There are two issues I am trying to figure out, so that I can order all the parts at once.

1. The stock OEM transmission lines are only long enough to go into my radiator ( I recently replaced mine with a CSF 2078). Will I have to fabricate/buy new transmission lines to attach from the radiator to the auxiliary and from the auxiliary back to the transmission? It seems in a configuration like this I can only reuse the line that comes out from the transmission and attaches to the radiator's transmission cooler.

2. The fittings are AN6, What lengths did you use to run the auxiliary unit from the radiator to aux (line 1) and from aux cooler back to tranny (line 2)? I haven't made transmission lines before, so not sure of which fittings to use - I've seen JEGS and SUMMIT have some nice options.

3. I have a Power Steering Aux Cooler on the frontside of my Driver's side Radiator ( between the AC Condenser and Grille), will the Passenger Side of the AC Condenser be able to fit the BM cooler without much modification? (On the Passenger side is the AC hardline which does not have very much wiggle room).

Many Thanks!!

Any photos of your setup would be awesome.

I installed the B&M 70268. it came will all the fittings I needed, I just needed to buy another length of hose (o'reilly had a hayden hose in stock that was the right size). I think B&M expects you to cut the single length of hose they give you, but I'm not sure how it would ever be enough. On the pics below, the red is going from radiator to cooler. blue from cooler to transmission. the only fittings I needed (inside the blue and red boxes) was to attach the blue output line to the existing transmission line i disconnected from the radiator and to get the new hose on the radiator output. Those fitting were in the B&M kit. Also included a pic of it on the front. it might be a tight fit if you already have a PS cooler on there... and I was lazy and didn't want to remove too many bolts so I recruited my wife's skinny arms to do the dirty work of securing the cooler.

Wow!! You have an amazing wife! Very lucky. I think my 17 month old could fit his short chubby arms in between the radiator and AC condenser.

Appreciate the pictures and response. I am guessing just using transmission lines I don't need the fancy AN fittings to make this work (attach to the auxiliary). The AN fittings are only required for the attachment at the Transmission and to the Radiator ( four fittings total).

Thanks again.

I didn't need any extra lines, just used what came in the kit.

Cool @89GASHOG - yeah, I guess I was looking from the perspective of new lines and what it takes to do that vs just patching in a hose between the radiator to the aux cooler.

I guess I'll find out in a few days when I get the B & M kit.

Thanks!
