Hey guys i just drove my cruiser for the first time after pulling it in the garage last year and my Transfercase pops out of low range. I know its not hitting the body and the linkage seems a little sloppy.I have gone through the whole truck but I havent done anything with the tranny or transfercase. Is there a common part that goes out in these cases? I have always had toyota mini truck wheelers so im not too familiar with the cruiser case. The specs are : 73 fj 40 2f 3speed Sprung over on 37s, mini truck front axle with Longfield 30spline superset. Drivelinetech.com drivelines, locked front and rear

If you are saying that there is slop in the transfer case shift linkage, then I would get under the truck and manipulate the shift lever by hand and verify that it is actually getting into low range properly. Operate the truck after you have it shifted into low range and see if it stays in gear.

Popping out of low is often due to wear on the low gear bushing and where it rides on the output shaft. The low gear is always turning on the shaft 2.3 times the speed of the output shaft when the case is in high range. Typically it will pop when you go from acceleration to deceleration and visa versa.

wrinkle?

You ever get around to checking things out on this?

I just got a 3 speed case from a guy locally for $50 and am going to throw that in for the time being. I didnt have a e-brake on mine so I will have one now and hopefully solve my problem. The guy also gave me the gear I need to run a 4 speed tranny so I am debating on whether or not to find a 4 speed to put in it. If I do that i am looking at a new clutch and $260 worth of driveline mods on drivelines I just paid $520 for  . On the other hand my clutch is making a weird shutter and i dont want to buy a new one just to have to get a new clutch when I do the 4 speed swap later. I am half tempted to ratchet strap it into low and go 4 wheelin! :D
