hi all.
I have a question. answers may vary.
just seeing what you guys think.
basically I picked my 100 series(1hdfte) up on the weekend after having the auto rebuilt. I drove about 1 hour before it all went to crap. sitting on a 110kmh herd and felt it let go. lost all power. slowed down and could hear it whining down with the decrease in speed. came to a stop and car stalled. put it in park. then started it. ran fine but obviously wouldn't engage a gear.
got out to have a look. rear wheels were locked up. front were free.(part time kit in it)

turned out to be the mechanic hadn't done the drain plug on the transfer case up properly and it had dropped out and you know the rest. transfer case cooked.
my question is. is the auto going to be cooked as well. even the torque converter? rear diff?

im thinking as the car didn't lock the rear wheels when it first went.(110kmh) so something was spinning till I came to a stop. albeit making a horrible noise. I think either way everything is going to need looking at.
so it's back to the mechanic to see the extent. I want a new TC and auto. will see how it goes.

I think diff and torque converter will be fine. more worried about the transmission.

I agree. Most likely the clutches are smoked. I would not be happy.
