I'm collecting parts for a diesel swap and I would prefer to use my stock '94 t-case, but I don't know of anyone who makes an adapter for the NV4500. My other option is to go with the split case of the 60 series, which has some advantages, but I'd rather stay stock if possible. Does anyone know who makes an adapter for a 80 series t-case to a NV4500?

I have been talking with Dustin (diesel adapters) who makes the cummins conversion kit for the Auto. He is making me an adapter to mate an NV4500 4wd trans to the HF2AV toyota xfer case.

We are going to be getting a new 2wd mainshaft for the NV4500, which is longer than the 4wd version. Dustin will cut that shaft down and respline it to mate with the HF2AV. The adapter plate will be 3/4" thick.

I believe Diesel Adapters is working on one but nothing in the market yet. Try giving them a call and see what they say. It might speed the process up if they know of more people interested.

What is it with Dustin? I've heard him called everything but a child of God, then I hear some very good reviews. I've never worked with him, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Should it not work out, is anyone else make this adapter?

Lastly, any thoughts on going with the split case? I'm probably looking at at least $600 for a t-case and rebuild it. Throw in locking hubs and some axle work and I'm way north of $1K. It'll give me part time 4WD, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

Depends what you mean by "worth it". A conversion is never worth it. It's something you need to want.

Dustin has been great to work with In my experience. He really knows his stuff and will spend the time to answer all your questions
..I know I had a lot. I paid for my kit last week and it was shipped out a few days ago.

The adapter for the HF2A will be around the $1k mark, which is similar to the advanced adapters cost for the NV4500/60 series, split case. This option will be more cost effective than the split case.

I just got off the phone with Dustin, final pricing on the adapter had been determined and parts have been ordered.

The adapter kit includes the adapter plate, a new 2wd mainshaft that gets cut, turned and respined. A new 5th gear and 5th gear nut kit. You then rebuild your NV4500 with these parts and bolt on the HF2A(V) case.

I called Dustin and it went to voicemail (probably on the phone with mryanangel), left a message and didn't expect to hear from him based off of what I've been reading. To my surprise he called me back in 10 minutes and couldn't have been more helpful. We talked about a couple of different scenarios, and he showed favor for his products, but I wouldn't expect anything else. His adapter sounds very interesting and we're talking about the next step. I'm collecting parts, so my swap is still a ways off, so I hope any of you who use his adapter will keep us informed.

Watch my build as I am going to be the 1st to get this new adapter. There are already a bunch of guys that have gone the auto or split case route. Lots of good options.
