Trans/T-Case leak

I have a 92 FJ80 3FE, and I sprung a leak while driving the other day. It was between the Trans/T-Case. I also noticed a small opening that looks odd. Has anyone experienced any leaks like this?

Looks like a transmission output seal leak.

That opening is normal. Not sure what it’s for, but it’s normal. Maybe so you know when your output seal goes?

Thanks that’s what I thought. Is it a difficult or expensive seal to replace?

Replace two seals. One for the transmission output and one for the transfer case input. Both are the same part number. Remove transfer case (about 80 lbs), pull both seals out and replace.

If this happened just after you had it serviced, make certain that ATF went into the transmission and gear oil went into the transfer case.
