I have a '85 60 series and it just developed a ticking noise in what I think is the transmission. It started in only the fourth gear but now it is doing it, intermittently, in every gear. It isn't very loud but it is getting louder. I think it might be low fluid, but it could also be a broken tooth, any help would be appreciated. thanks

change the fluid and see what you find. CHeck the magnet on the drain plug for shavings/chips.

Check fluid level in the tranny and transfer. The split case transfers have a nasty habit of leaking oil to the tranny thus running dry on the transfer and over filling the tranny. If fluid pours out of the tranny filler, order a transfer gasket & seal set and go to it!! It CAN be done from a creeper under the truck with the tranny in place (I've done it twice that way).
