Is there any good way to check my front and rear tranny output bearing to see if they are bad or not? what would show they need replacement?
Thanks, Brandon.

also, if they need attention, has anyone done them and is it a big job or not?

My mechanic is busy replacing my front and rear output flange bearing. I held it in my hand this very morning. Most likely will get my rig back tomorrow so can take pics of the old bearings is there is interest. The bearing looks like a sleeve running in a sleeve (sorry for the lack of techy talk).

I experienced drive train vibration from 60-85km/h and a dry bearing sound at 110km/h onwards. With the vehicle on stand (4 wheels in the air i could hear a grating sound using a stetescope (sp?) on the bearing. With the propshaft removed one can feel grating on the flange when turning it and there is slight play.

Do not know about the front bearing on the tranny, but the rear can be replaced on the 442 in the truck. This will usually show up as a leak between the t-case and tranny. As for the bearing in the t-case (I bleieve that is what Bongani is refering to) those also can be replaced rather easely. I have post how this is done a couple of other time. later robbie
