Hey,

Anyone catch the last month's article, in Fourwheeler magazine I think? In response to all the bad mail they got on making a GX470 their top pick of the year (two years running), they are making one into a real wheelin' rig.

Anyway, there's a blurb saying they will show footage on fourwheeler TV of a trip across the Rubicon. If anyone catches it, let me know I'd like to see it.

The future of 4 wheeling... to a degree ... It will be great when someone hacks the air suspension's ECU to produce an offroad articulation mode. Let's face it, the electronics are here to stay, might as well put em' to good use. :D

I read the article. It should be interesting to see what all they do with it, might shut a few people up, but then they will just say, "No one would ever do that with their own personal Lexus"....whatever...You can never make everyone happy.

There will always be na-sayers...you put a lift on, they'll say poser, you'll never wheel it.

You wheel it, they'll say you are to afraid to scratch it, so stay on the lame trails.

You wheel it hard and they'll say you're a rich prick who is just trashing his vehicle because you can afford to...who cares..I think it's sweet...

Interesting ususally the loudest na-sayers are also the ones that want to ride with you at 80mph, CD player, a/c, etc to the trailhead...

If anyone would like to donate to my GX470 4x4 fund.. :D Just PM me..

Can anyone send me a scanned article, or post me the pages of the upgrade please?

PM me if you can, Ill give you my postal address or email.

That rings a little bit too true these days....

It rings true in a LOT more areas than just wheeling....

people just want to feel more important than the next guy.

I wish they would just realize that I am the only one that matters, things would be so much better (for me). ;)

No one else really matters dan,
well except for me.

Hey "the shed guy", there is a ton of info and pics of this rig on Pirate4x4.com in the Land Cruiser section. This info is much more in-depth then the article in the Mag. Also the builder and his wife posted many comments about the build and how it handles Moab.

Keep telling yourself that Dan, you need to, you drive a 3FE :flipoff2:

Newps...You're talking about a different rig. This thread is about a Lexus GX-470 that an off-road mag is building into a wheeler. You're talikg about Alan Podvin's TLC 100 that he built, and is selling now.
Shed-guy...I don't have the ability to scan, but I will send you the actual mag if you want. PM me with your postal address, and I'll be happy to get it to you.
John

Thank you for that, has there only been the 1 article on it so far?

Anyone have Ned Bacons email address from four wheeler magazine?

The e-mail address for the mag is www.fourwheeler.com
They don't list addresses for individual contributors, but might provide it if you ask.
HIH,
John

Darren, the GX470 is just a Land Cruiser Prado (120??) in Aus right? Did those ever come with any factory lockers? It's cool they threw in dual ARBs but even more impressive would be if it could have come with atleast a Toyota e-locker in the rear, not in the US form, but maybe buying on from Aus and retrofiting it...not easy but that would add even more awe to the story, since there are lots out there that don't know Toyota has ever made a factory locker.

Curious what the Prado has for the Aus version...

Cheers... (trying to sound Australian) :D

We dont get lockers in the 120 series here, but the rear tacoma or tundra locker would fit the rear diff Im sure [without actually seeing them ;) ]

The ARB unit is a much stronger carrier than the OE centre.

I would be interested to know how they did a front ARB though, as the 120 series has a massive front diff, uncommon to any other toyota, and ARB werent making a locker for it.
