I know I did a search, found nothing on this quirk....

I'm wiring up my M101, the truck has a 7 flat prong socket...with 5 (?) posts being used, left right, tail, ground....and brake...I assume it's becuase the BJ40 has separate turn signals from brake lights.

I only have 4 in use on the 7 flat pin connector on the trailer...I know of some type of converter that does this, is this what i neeed? Can anyone explain what it does? What should the line up from the truck be? I'll drop the fifth wire and rewire it to four, but where do i pick up the brake circuit??

I know this is staring me in the face, but I can't see it

Mike, the controller you're talking about converts the 3 light system on your truck to the 2 light system on your trailer. I have one on both my 40 and 62. I spliced mine into the wiring at the tail lights, leaving the controller in the truck and then running the trailer harness out the back.

I've found a couple different ones online...from $6.95 to $79.95...are they different for 24 volts? what model/brand do you use?

Isn't there a portion of the harness in the driver's rear quarter panel for hooking up trailer lights?

How does the controller work?

The issue is that the 40 has separate brake lights and turn signals, so you have 5 wires, ground, tail, left right and brake. the trailer uses the brake and turn together, so you have 4 wires. The converter uses relays to send current from the battery to the right or left light, so you can use the four wire trailer, behind the 5 wire truck....

I have one installed now, but still having problems...
