I just went to Rapid City and back to get my new trailer:

I have some MPG data. On the way back I took a different route to stop at Mt Rushmore, so it is not an Apples to Apples. Plus, I drove at different speeds:doh: towing and not towing

Not Towing, Average Speed 83 MPH, Heck it was 2-7AM and not even the coyotes were up - 13.4MPG . I was curious how good it would have been if I drove 55-65, but not curious enough to take the extra time.

Towing, Average Speed 65-72MPG and included about 50 miles of Mountain (Black Hills ) driving - 9.8MPG

This isn't a one for one comparisons, but it does give you the magnitude of impact towing has.

That is more than I expected since there is not much air drag from a popup:crybaby:

This is a tall pop up.

That is about the mileage I would expect. You could prolly bump it about 1 mpg if you stayed below 60. Of course you would get run over......

Nice Trailer. Was surprised at the 9.8 until I saw what kind of trailer - low wind resistance! I usually average about 8 when I tow, but it's likely a heavier trailer (3500lbs) than yours and it's tall enough to stand in (not a pop up either!).

IIRC I went from 16.4 to 13.6 or something around those, without and with popup. Probably around 60mph. With some hills.

It's all uphill on the way back :)

I get ~13 MPG all the time, even when I tow 3 motorcycles.

My wife gets ~15

Lets see, that would have turned a 5.5 hour trip into, let me figure this out . . . . . . a 7 hour trip.

Hmm an hour and a half to save roughy 2 whole gallons. Nope, the 80+ miles in those states in almost mandatory.

I averaged 9 mpg  for 2200 miles with a fully loaded 92 FJ80 towing a fully loaded U-haul 6' x 12' trailer. I was in 3rd gear 75% of the time. Guessing 9,000 lbs all told.

Wyoming to Virginia.

I hesitate to say so, what with the Shaman being around  , but I get about 15mpg sans trailer and about 13-14 mpg with a fully loaded trailer of about 2500-3000lbs; both at about 70-75 mph.

I get about the same milage towing my rally car and trailer (1400Kg approx) as while not towing. Around 19.5mpg

But I guess it is a diesel :flipoff2:

P.S performance is almost the same as well :grinpimp:

the trip to and from Pismo Beach for Surf-n-Turf (my trailer's maiden voyage) netted me around 11 MPG.

I think the 315s had more to do with that than anything else...
