I know its a little early but im in Afghanistan till late late may and i was wondering if anyone would be interested in a June trail ride

i would be in for a day trip. Could not do a whole weekend though.

East coast 4runner jamboree is the 22nd - 24th. I'll be headed up to that. Y'all should check it out!

Are you willing to travel to KY? If so, PM Wayneraintree.

anyone know of a run where i can drive a loop or section of wilderness maybe 30-50mi long?
camp in a new spot every night.

GWNF. There are many more (legal) trails out there than what we did in February of 2011 or the day trip in the summer.

My Isuzu buddies did a loop last year, Labor Day. Went into WV and rode Forest Service trails in there that come back into VA. (They used good topo maps, not the crappy maps posted by the USFS on the web). Said their total dirt time was nearly 70 miles.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Do you know the loop they took or how long it took them? What about the level of the trails? I would definitely be in!

Parker, I'll try to find out specifically where they went. They used good topo maps from Blue Ridge Mountain Sports (bmrs.com). Apparently those maps show all the USFS roads.

From their description, most trails were comparable to Waggy's Creek Trail.

I'm more-so about the adventure rather than the rock-crawling and mud pits.

Now I like this option better Im the same way lets figure a place to head out for a weekend

Check out the usgs 7.5 min quad maps, those are going to be the best maps you're going to come by. Toss the electronics and route find with paper!!

cool. I'll have to pick one up. Think I saw the hardcopy GWNF maps at REI.

The cool thing about the electronic maps is that i can load them into ArcGIS, customize stuff, then print them out. If only I had access to a bigger printer.

Booch
Sounds like a plan in the making.
