If you are going to mount it to the roof, I'd leave it as long as you can. If you're thinking about a bumper mount then I'd go no less than 48". There are times that I've needed mine on less than even terrain and having the extra length would be helpful. But then again, you probably won't be following my line either:flipoff2:

i'd trade you my 48" but the high lift jack Steve sold me has to be modified to fit the land cruisers...he only carries the ones made for Rovers

I cut down the 60" to 48" and she fits perfectly and will end up on the bumper carrier (I don't do roof racks in the Eastern US.

Oh, and Rick, you are right...I will take the more challenging one :)

I've yet to see a 60...would be huge across the front bumper of a rig!

i just got my 48" from steve and she fits perfectly, great price too!!!

My old 60 fit in my 80 really well (I had it chopped and tubed so I had more room in the back) but this GX is smooshy and doesn't have the space, so the 60 became a 48 today with a nice thick metal blade on the sawz-all and a little filing.

a real man cuts things with a sawzall....who cares if it's a good clean cut so long as it cuts it in two!!!

lol what was it u killed?

Hardy har har har!

Killed one on the ground as I was digging french drains in the back yard.

Then went and grabbed my sons big metal Tonka dump truck and one was living in the big tire.

Later that night, I went to work on my boat in the garage and when I turned on the light one was hanging from the ceiling dropping into my boat. My ceilings are 18' tall and it was the creepiest thing I have ever seen. Picture Arachnaphobia movie scene type of thing. It was coming down with her legs all spread out showing the hour glass and to me it looked as big as my hand. Obviously it wasn't. Freaked me out because I couldn't find it in my boat and I didn't want it to come out while fishing in it later. I couldn't find it so I put the plug in the boat and flooded it with the water hose. Found her dead trying to crawl out of the side of the boat in the morning.

And I have recently changed my way of thinking. If it is on the internet, then it most definitely is true. If I see it in person then it was either photoshoped or CGI'd.
