Track off, 4Lo, and check engine lights all on.

Yesterday while driving home from Napa back to Oakland After my sons Soccer game while on the freeway all three of these lights came on. I pulled over put it in neutral tried switching it back to four Lo and 4 hi a few times turn the car off turned it back on and all the lights are still there although truck is running fine. It’s not the battery because the battery is brand new so I dropped it off at the dealer this morning to see what they say

Oh I forgot to mention this is it 2013 With 44,000 miles on it that I’ve had since new never had a single problem yet.

I had the lights came on before it turn out the gas cap wasn't tight.

Grab a code reader from an auto parts store or harbor freight. It will tell you what error codes are triggered, and also let you quickly clear them.

Quite likely due to something related to fuel pressures in or around the gas tank, filler, evap canister, gas cap, etc.

Yeah I did fill up on Friday before heading out for the weekend maybe I didn’t tighten the gas cap all the way?? Still at work waiting on a call from the dealership

OK dealership called and said they ran a diagnostic and one of the two oxygen sensors is bad and needs replacing it is not under warranty and the cost is $710 for everything

That's a little steep for an O2 sensor don't ya think? Replacement takes about 5min.

If it were me, I'd tell the dealer you need to think about it and take the truck back without them "fixing" anything. Then make sure your gas cap is on nice and tight and drive it for a couple of days. My bet is the lights will fix themselves.

If I'm wrong, no harm done - a bad o2 sensor won't damage anything after a couple of days - just tell the dealer you decided to go ahead with the repair. But I agree, $710 sounds very expensive.

Edit to add: BTW, there are 4 O2 sensors on our trucks. If the dealer really said, "... one of the two oxygen sensors is bad ..." then what happenned to the other two sensors? Statements like that just feed my distrust of dealers

I had this happen on my 2008 over a year ago right after I went to a full serve gas station. There were a few other threads in what I believe is the same issue. The truck goes into “limp mode”. I drove home, unplugged the battery for an hour. The error was gone after I plugged back in and hasn’t ever come back.

Yes. That is what boiling gas also leads to. Same errors, and same fouling of the canister. Essentially the same when severely over-filled.

I’m curious too. 700.00 sounds extreme. Gas cap sounds more likely and while I’ve never had to mess with o2 sensors here, I have on bmw,s and it’s an easy fix. Good luck.

Find out the specific code your truck is throwing. Without that, we're all just speculating.

If it's an oxy sensor, you'll know which one, and then you can decide from there how difficult and expensive the job is for DIY.

$700 is definitely steep to just replace an oxygen sensor. There are two oxygen sensors and they're not that hard to get to. Btw, if it is a loose gas cap, the codes should be cleared. Sometimes they won't reset on their own. You should get the code read before doing anything.

Have seen this happen before, I'd try cleaning the MAF and replacing/cleaning the EGR valve - have no clue as to what they have to do with this "light display" but after resetting the codes, I've had no further (knock wood) issues.

Just to be clear, there are 4 (FOUR) Oxygen sensors on the 5.7L petrol engine. 2 (TWO) are in front of the catalytic converters on the LEFT and RIGHT and 2 (TWO) are after the catalytic converters on the LEFT and RIGHT. The 2 (TWO) in front of the catalytic converters are the same Part# while the 2 (TWO) behind the catalytic converters are different Part#'s as follows:

Front Left: 89467-04090
Front Right: 89467-04090
Rear Left: 89465-60370
Rear Right: 89465-36040

There's a reason they have different part numbers. There are only two oxygen sensors. The other two are air fuel ratio sensors.
