Thanks for the info...
I have to be honest, Im having a very hard time visualizing what the strap looks like and where its attached on the rig.
My impression from above, is that It is a solid bar, tupe or pipe that almost fiixes the axel and allows it to pivot vertically end to end, but stops the center from compression and thus, prevents AS? I think Im off somewhere...Do you have pics of yours?

Come over to my house, I can show you what it looks like. I have everything except the strap installed. I should be home Sunday finishing up some details.

nope nope nope....

picture a 12" piece of snatch strap....with eye's on either end

one to a crosstube directly above the axle housing, centered...

the other, directly to the center of the housing...

at ride height, it's not tight...but lift from the frame and it tightens almost immediately

A center limit strap and a traction bar are completely independant..

Im gonna plan on going next year. It sounds like a BLAST! If my rig were all done with, I would be going for this year. One of the guyz from our local TLCA club is going in his FJ Cruiser!

Just not practical for me to go to GGG this year.

The only connection between the traction bar and center limit strap on my rig is that the axle end eye for the limit strap is welded to the trac bar upper bushing.

I finally got a good understanding of what a limit strap can do on the Rubicon this summer. Going over a ledge, in a rigs that was w/o limit strap, you could feel the springs unloading. It was like the springs hit a certain point then started pushing the rig over. The driver is a pro and powered the front forward which kept us from flipping.

i seen a wierd anti-hop/ traction aid a while back and im wondering if any of you have seen this before. it was on the rear of a 78 bronco, it was basically a horizontally mounted shock connected to the frame and to a gusseted beam off of the top leaf spring plate. the beam was about a foot or so long. this would absorb the tendancy for wrap more than prevent. but might have a longer life span than the bushings in the trac bar. anybody heard of these?

So, it was like a catapult effect that occurred, and the limiting strap prevents that?

If this is correct, that makes a whole bunch more sense to me.

When you are driving say down a hill or dropping of a ledge it prevents the rear springs form unloading completly at the same time(full droop) and like Rusty_Tlc says it also helps remove the feeling of the rear of the truck trying to pass the front. (end over end). This is how i have imagined a limit strap and have had it explained to me.
