Does anyone own one yet? What do you think? 38 MPG on the highway and my job is 60 miles from the house. I am really looking hard at this one but would like any input good or bad.

Puptlam,
I checked out (but dont own) the Yaris and the Honda Fit. I thought the Fit was the better of the two. I came away thinking the Fit was my #1 choice.

The Yaris 4 door is actually quite big, it doesnt look much smaller than a Corolla.

Kia makes a small car that looks pretty sporty, but I haven't checked it out

I like them, but don't own one.

I see them all over the place in Japan, including the previous generation ones. They are called the "Vitz" here.

I have recently read that Honda was finally instorucing their "Fit", but I think it's a little late. I would have told them to wait until their replacement was coming (whenever it is), because it looks a little "dated" in my opinion.

Anyway, from what I've seen and read, you should not be disappointed with the Yaris.
Are they selling both the 3dr and the 5dr versions?

Have you taken one out for a spin?

Good luck and keep us posted.

Mot :)

ya i believe they have been making the fit and the yaris for years overseas.

Do you know someone that subscribes to the Wall St Journal or the online edition? About two weeks ago they did a comparison on all the cars mentioned above. I don't exactly recall their conclusions but I think the Honda came out on top.

Yaris are like belly buttons in Venezuela, everybody has one! Seriously, they're GREAT little commuter cars, comfortable, practical, reliable. My only concern in the US would be a collision, in Caracas you're bound to hit another little shoebox, here in Texas, you're bound to end up under a lifted King Ranch edition Dually...SPLAT!

lowers the population...helps the housing crunch.

if you want a 4 door look hard at the fit. we looked at both and i preferred toyota but we got a fit instead of the yaris. in fact we bought the fit over the matrix because we had decided the yaris was too small before the fit came out and moved to the matrix. the fit basically did everything the matrix could for lots less with roughly the same equipment. the fit has more room in back than the yaris or the matrix plus the "magic seats". It also has better standard features for the money than the yaris or matrix. both yotas seem slightly better built but that's always been true dating back 20 years yet honda's track record is as good as toyota on these little things. the fit it is still a great car to drive and for the money unbeatable.

semlin,
post pics of your Honda. I'd like to see :)
I really like it, I thought it was very cool. Kind of reminded me of the Honda glory days of the Civic hb and crx, but even more now.

well not sure what i can add that the honda site won't but here are shots of it next to my brother's 85 civic wagovan. shows how much the new civic has grown from what it was 20 years ago to the point it had moved up a market segment and they had to bring in the fit underneath it. the more things change...

That's a perfect couple pics. Looks like Honda tradition continues :)
I really liked flipping up the seats and versatility inside. Honda calls it the Magic seat. lol

We are in the market for a commuter only car and considered the Yaris. I wasn't impressed when I got in and drove it. Don't get me wrong, for a teenager this is a very economical car. I didn't like the no thrills dash layout and all the open pockets for storing crap that will just come flying out everytime you approach a hill or accelerate.

I haven't looked at the Fit yet, is it larger than the Matrix?

So far we like the non hybrid Civic 06. It is very peppy, safe (side airbags) and sporty looking. The interior is very nice and ergo friendly.
