I haven’t been on mud much but I did a quick search on mud and google and it was all old news about the Tundra diesel that never materialized.

Anyway, it is reported that a Toyota tech trainer stated that Toyota has rights to the 4 cylinder Cummins diesel for the Tacoma/ 4Runner.

I would prefer Toyota market their own diesels here but using the Cummins might make sense from a DOT approval/cost perspective.

So is this news to the mud community?

If they can make it run smooth that would be nice.
Yeah I assume it would be the 2.8 liter crate motor. Have to read some reviews on it.

I’d hate to see how much they’d cost!!![/QUOT

I would guess $3000-$5000 more than a gasser.

Cummins has a new 4Cyl crate engine that is specifically designed for SUVs like FJ40's and Wranglers. It sells for just over $8,000.
