Hey guys, new to the CLCC, looking to join this week or next. I was wondering if there is a dealer in the area that gives cruiser guys a break. I would normally go through Cdan but he is on vacation right now and the item I am looking for is a heavy mother (about... 175#... any guess':D). Looking forward to meeting you guys and sharing any knowledge I might have.

Dale, John, and I all use the parts mgr., Mark Braund at Darcars. He gives us 25%. Great guy, very helpful. They are just east of 29N on Randolf Rd.

Welcome to the area, and the club. What do you drive?

If Darcars doesn't work out for you, you can still order through American Toyota while Dan's away. They'll give you the same discount. I'll be ordering today.

Thanks guys great info. I actually grew up here and then moved to Durango to go to school for a while. The temptations were too great out there so I returned here to actually go to school. I bought an '84 fj60 about 2 years ago and have been trying to get a 4bt diesel into it ever since. I am a mech. eng. student so I haven't had lots of time over the past couple of years but I have one semester left and my time is freeing up a bit. I am looking to order a brand new h55 that's why I was hoping to get it locally if possible. The current status of my rig is "taken apart". I am in the middle of the spring over process but I need the drivetrain complete to make sure I get the angles right on the cut and turn. I have a used tranny on the way that I am going to use as a mock up and then possibly rebuild, but I would like a new tranny for the rig as it may take me a while to rebuild the one that is coming and I have no idea of it's condition. BTW I work part time in the machine shop at school and we have some pertty neat toys as far as metal fab goes so if someone needs something custom let me know and maybe I can help.

Dan, and Dave are correct, that the guys at Darcars Toyota in Silver Spring are very good. I have been dealing with them for about 15 years or so. If the parts available they can get them. You can ask for Mark, Kris, or Roberto, in Toyota Parts. You can also tell them that I referred you to them.

Talked to Mark this morning, seems like a great guy. He's lookng into for me, he's not sure it's something he can get. I'll post up when I find out what the status is.

Welcome Bahndo.

Mark is a good guy, if you give him the Toyota part# he should be able to get you a 5speed if there are any in the warehouse. Not sure if you have seen this thread but I bet our club president Sebastien will commission you to make him a set of the brackets to run toyota rear disc brakes. He has wanted to do this for years. https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=167209 You could make some $ selling them also I am willing to bet to finance your 5speed swap. ;)

Good to know, I have been thinking of running disks on the rear of my 60. I have a FF axle so that is what I will start with. In the tech section on MUD there is an article about using a steering knuckle and trimming it and mounting it to the axle housing. The good news is we do have some cnc mills in the shop, but milling large peices of steel takes a long time. The better news is that we have a laser cutter and can cut 2D profiles in up to 1/4 plate in seconds! If you can get me dimensions I can draw it up in Pro/e or autocad and cut'em out, as many as needed. Glad to be apart of the local cruiser scene.

Bahndo hey dude i was just talking to the mark on the phone he asked if i new u i said no. Any way long story short. he miss placed your phone number give him a call back!!!! Im guessing you the dude who needed 1988 cruiser parts?

Sweet thanks, I have been out of town since last Thurs. and was a little bummed not to have any messages from Mark. I'll give him a call today.

Well I talked to Mark last week and teh price he quoted me for the 5spd was $1999.00, not too bad but seeing as how Toyota of El Cajon had it on sale for $1599 I went that route. With shipping, a new shift lever and the oiler nipple I still beat the local price, oh well maybe next time.

On a side not my 4bt fj60 build is coming along nicely. I just got a new to me 60 that is practically rust free and now is totally gutted. I have LOTS of extra fj60 stuff that needs to go so if anyne needs anything let me know. I'm gonna start a new build thread on the expedition build page b/c that is what this is beng built for primarily. I'll keep ya'll posted on the goings on as they come.
