Toyota/ LC paint: is it durable?

What color? Different paint colors tend to hold up differently. The 3rd gen is a prime example. You'll almost never see a 3rd gen in Medium Brown Metallic with the hood/roof not completely faded and sunburned. I had a Desert Dune (awesome color) and Sunfire Red, they held up ok but the red was starting to have clearcoat issues on the hood.

Anthracite. Brownish /gray. Beautiful color

I have a 17 blizzard white with black leather and the paint was great until I Rubbed my concrete garage wall!
I also have a 17 dark blue metallic with black leather that looked good too until the garage door came down on the rear spoiler when my wife was driving it.
Both cars each have about 6k on them...oh well!

I have owned a couple of Subaru STIs before I got into land cruisers and one thing that was speculated among the Subaru folks is that while Japanese made Subaru cars were of better build quality than American built ones, the paint quality of the Japanese made cars was much worse. We thought it had something to do with environmental regulations of paint in Japan. Kinda like those ridiculous California laws.

My guess is that the same issue applies to Land Cruisers since they are all built in Japan.

I had a 2011 bmw 750 that I bought new. The paint was beautiful but seemed to chip easily. The factory tested it after I complained and they told me that bmw had changed to a water based paint and it may not be as durable. I wonder if Toyota has done the same thing.
