I just read in the offtopic section not more than a few days ago that the concensus was 20% on the Land Cruisers and 7% on the LX450s... searching for the thread now

Um.. well I know that my bj70 (Canadian) was over 15k$ (CAD) back in 1985. So if they were to offer the px10 wich is kind of the same as a 70 but with more options, turbo-ed and a different engine, I bet the price would be twice the price of my '85, so 30k$ (CAD)
As you all know, there's no toyota trucks that come cheap, and the px10 or the new fjcruiser are no exception!
my 2 cents

That would be like, $50 American ;)

The PX10 everyone keeps talking about is not a Toyota product. The owner fabbed up 3-4 in a small shop somewhere in Japan.
He should have been sent to jail:ban:

Maybe the folks that designed the FJ Cruiser should be sent to jail for not designing something that maintained all of the LandCruiser traits.

But then again, they are trying to compete with the Xterra. Could you have imagined the day Toyota designed a Cruiser to compete with a Nissan let alone a Nissan Xterra?

They're just looking at the $$$ picture.

That's what Americans are for; disposable income to be given away for stuff we don't really need.

all good points, we will have to see what the production FJ holds.

I haven't been in the FJ forum for a long time. I can't believe people (not you FirstToy) are still arguing about "standard features". Yes, with F&R lockers and F&R solid axles the 80 had the most STOCK/STANDARD off-road features?

But look how a stock 80 does off road? Been there (with many) several times. Destroyed bumpers, running boards, the spare tire hits constantly, been strapped. You might reply with "so what"? Well, the "so what" is that STOCK Tacoma's have run the same trails on my same trips and without a scratch. They buried the stock 80's.

What does this mean? "Standard 4-wheeling features" do not tell the entire story. A stock Tacoma 4WD TRD (I have experience with 2004 and before models) will eat a stock 80 or 100 on almost every trail. Who cares? If you're into 4-wheeling you'll modify and once you do that then most all comparisons are off because it depends on how they're modified.

I'll bet with aftermarket help that an FJ Cruiser will hang with other Toyota SUV's, JUST LIKE THE 100 HANGS WITH THE 80s. :)

OK, no hate mail....just trying to be objective. :)

Yuk ... looks like a MINI !! Where are the portal axels?? What does "off road " mean to toyota?
