No prizes for spotting the 45 series pickup, picture taken in 1981, think it has to be a HJ45.

I think the blue truck is a Toyota 6000, dont know the story behind the photo, I wasn't there. The wood on the back of the truck is probably a flat pack, kit building for a school.

Last one, a FJ40 at work. It's carrying cargo from the airstrip a few miles up the road down to the school.

No we didn't have lockers or a winch. Eventually the school got a HJ45 with a winch etc. Thing about Papua New Guinea was if you got stuck people would appear and help, these kids are students.

One more - at least I think this is almost in the FJ25 age range, a Stout, taken in 1975, not really sure on years for Stouts, though things though.

Where in PNG? I spent time in Kiunga, Moro, and Gobi...

First three are in the West Sepik around Lumi. When the FJ40 went in the last section of the road was really just a walking track it took my Dad quite a few days to get in, making bridges over small crossings, it had been something like three years since a vehicle drove into the area. Once in Lumi and added to the other two 40 series, a Suzuki and two tractors that made the number of working vehicles arund Lumi, in 1977, six. The river crossing is after the road was completed around 1981.

Kiunga would be quite like Lumi, for anyone wondering what the area is like (it's real 4x4's only, although you do see some cars doing amazing things), heres and arial shot from google maps and a link. the top brown area is Lumi town, the bottom on is the school with the agricultural school between the two. lumi - Google Maps Distance from the twon to the school is probably a bit over 2 miles but quite a trek at times.

Stout probably Sogari.
