I never paid attention to the way they did the doors with the soft top..................different, a true chopped top. I wonder if the newer models are still done the same way.

Johnny, That is funny! I did not notice the first time I looked.
It sure looks like my truck. The hood number is #14 which is the same
as mine. The License plate says Shizuoka which is the city where my truck
came from. I am about 90% sure it is the same vehicle.
I bought my truck in 2001 so this photo must have been taken before
that. It is in front of a fire station.

Hey, look what came in the mail today! I thought it would have some gems of information, or a decent picture or two, but not much. Anyone need a manual for their FA truck?

Hope nobody minds if I slide a quick question in here, seeing as there is some impressive knowledge around this thread.

I am looking for images & history of Toyota 6000 trucks, I have searched high and low and there are very few references to Toyota 6000, the name I knew them by, perhaps they have a different name?

Don't mind the question, but also don't know how much help we'll be. I don't recognize the Toyota 6000 label.....................but you have to remember most of us are US based and haven't seen many Toyota trucks heavier than the Land Cruiser. :frown:

Yea but a resourse like mud is hard to beat - someone will have seen one, read about them, owned them.

I am sure my father must have taken a photo of one at some point. Around 1984 he sunk a HJ45 pickup during a river crossing in Papua New Guinea and got towed out by one, that would have been a photo opertunity but I know the camera got drowned in that one.

I remember playing in a burnt out wreck of a truck that I think was a Toyota 6000 as a kid in 1977 but I don't know if they went back that far, dim and distant memories - although I think I could find the wrecked truck to this day, I doubt it's moved an inch in 30 years.

I rember my father visiting Kenya in 1987 and finding the school truck he knew from 1967 still around, derelect but parked at the back of the school buildings (not Toyota think it was a Ford).

We love pictures! :D

Found some pictures!! Hope to scan them in tomorrow, not teasing just frustrated I can't get the scanner to work, last used on Windoze 98 and drivers for Vista don't seem to be avaliable  .

Can't wait for the experts to identify some finer points for me, like what year was the damm FJ40 that started me off on the near obcession! I know it's an F rather than 2F but having seen so few I can't get much better than that.

So the photos I found. I know they shouldn't be in the FJ25 section but I butted in on this thread and you have all been friendly (so far).

FJ40 - year?
This photo was taken in 1979, I suppose my Dad got the vehicle in 1975. Location is Papua New Guinea, that was the parking area, hope you can see the "bridge" over the drain. I can still rember a mechanic friend of my parents adjusting the valve clearances on that patch of ground - he did it with engine running, not my style but it worked for him, always thought it was rough on the feeler gauges.

Detail is the bezel and bumper - when we got the vehicle it came with an Australian style bumper, it was too heavy and always pulled the front down in mud and we didn't have high speed roads or large wild animals on the roads so we changed it for a piece of local hardwood that was like iron, seriously strong.
