Does the older ecu change or affect the gx? Like atrac, abs, vsc, etc?

The locker ecu is independent from the rest of the truck, it only engages/disengages the locker. ATRAC won't work on the rear when the rear locker is engaged, but that's because you're putting power to both wheels all the time.

Kyle is spot on. Totally separate from any GX systems.

I used the FJ switch, 3rd gen 4Runner ECU, and FJ wiring. I don't have the fancy 07+ panel like Kyle, so I removed my RSCA button and put my switch there.

man! many thanks to everyone on this forum and especially to @Kyle Fogle and @AWilson013 because the last few answers you guys gave opened the green light as that was the major fear factor with old ecu.

You guys pretty much summed up that Im going to get elocker retrofit. Believe it or not I actually was thinking and debating for hours last night. Pretty much used the Ben Franklin close on what are the pros and cons of going elocker or ARB. At the end of it all the biggest factor was the labor cost of having the ARB installed (10hours x $80 at the very least) because I would have to buy a compressor and knowing me somehow im going to upgrade my self to getting anything but the base that only is used for lockers (i was actually trying to sell myself on the twins because it was so cool.)

Anyways I dont have heavy camping rigs, heavy bars, or plan on putting anything heavy that would possibly break the elocker 8 inch pinion so when the cost factors came down to it, the elocker was the most cost efficient.

This site rocks!

Or you can just install an 8" Harrop elocker in your oem housing and carrier

very true. Only knock on the harrop from what ive researched is that the price point is basically the same as buying a ARB with Compressor. 4wheel parts has a sale right now where you buy 1 locker and you get a free compressor. Buy 2 lockers and get the middle one that powers lockers and inflates tires. Free shipping as well.

I was sold on Harrop elockers until i found out about elocker retrofit.

Yeah, I actually have one I just don't want to dremel my mirror switch lol...

It was actually pretty easy, flip the housing over and you'll see toyota even provided direction on where to cut.

Ha, well that's convenient. I might have to do that when I need another switch.

I used a 3rd gen ecu, 2nd gen tacoma switch, and 2nd gen Tacoma locker

Kyle - did you fab up your own wiring? How did you wire into the ECU without the plugs? Got any details on that? Like your clean setup.
