I have a bj40 with a 302 in it and i can not get it started buy the key in the engine bay there are two wires that arnt on any thing a black and yellow one and a black and white where do thay go

Not shore of the year has no id plate and i cant find the chassie number it had a 351 in it befor i got it and an imobiliser but thay are not in the car any more i just put the motor in and trying to get it running i traced the wires back to the ignition i will post photos up in the morning

Thick black and yellow-striped wire in the engine bay would have been for supplying power to the B-engine's glow plugs.

assuming its a carbed engine all you should need is a live Ign feed to the coil and she'll fire up

need more info on dizzy setup, points or electronic Ign, external coil or not, have you checked the plugs to see if they are sparking and firing, is there voltage across the points when the Ign is on ie: do they spark when you open them, has the dizzy or timing been changed have you checked and confirmed its timed correctly, is the firing order correct, is there gas getting to the carb can you see the accelerator pump squirt gas down the throat when you pull the throttle linkage around, does the engine fire at all or just turn over?

The original (OEM) Black/White stripe wires went from the IGN switch start position to the start relay, the glow relay and the EDIC relay.
The glow and EDIC relay are no longer present I assume. So one Black/White goes to the starter (relay).

Does it turn over?

Maybe a bit of a yokel reply but,

can you take out an igniter, ground the body to the engine block and have somebody turn the key? That way you can be sure have ignition at least...:hhmm:
