Any opinion on these tires? (50% highway / 50% unimproved roads)
Thanks

I've had them on my truck now for probably 6 yrs now. Started out with 285s , and purchased a set of 315s in June 2011. Have nothing really to compare them against since I've only run them and nothing else for off roading. Very pleased with road noise, strength and longevity. Even use them in the winter although I have a set if Michelin X Ice tires on rims. Highly recommend them.

Their grip is superb and they have a decent tread life. The only cons I can say is that they are pricey and a bit loud on the highway.

Ran a set on my FJC and they were good tires, really strong (never had a flat!), and lasted 80 or 90,000 miles. Still would have passed inspection when I replaced them. My only complaints about them were the weight and the stiff sidewall (had to air them down to 9 psi or less to soften them off-road), but that is what you get for a nearly indestructible tire I suppose. They were pretty noisy on the highway too, but what do you expect with a mud tire.

I liked mine for driving conditions similar to what the OP describes: 50/50 highway and dirt.
Road noise was annoying, they are heavy which translated to lower MPG. I found that for dirt roads they didn't need to be aired down to maintain control at speed, this is nice if you alternate sections of dirt with pavement. I got decent wear out of mine, no chunking or anything. In spite of the aggressive appearance of the tire it was only average for many common driving situations such as packed snow or ice. It is a decent mud tire in my experience and performed well at higher speeds on loose gravel/dirt surfaces. I wouldn't put them on another rig unless it was mostly used for trail. IMHO the negatives on the pavement outweigh the positives off road.

Great tire. I've had mine for 4 yrs and they have been excellent. Touring the logging roads, muddy ATV trails in BC, never even
think about them. Aired down, they work flawlessly over everything. Best tire I've ever owned.
