Anyone have any tips regarding towing specifically with the GX? I took our travel trailer from Atlanta to Asheville last weekend and the GX did great. I tried keeping it below 3,000rpm but going up those mountains makes that a little harder to do.

Have another trip to Gatlinburg this weekend and just curious if there are any things to do/do not do in the GX when it comes to towing.

I'm using weight distribution with sway control hitch and the trailer is only weights 3,400 fully loaded.

Nothing wrong with 3500 rpms. These engines actually get a lot of HP at speed at around 3500 and it won't hurt it. If you don't have other provisions for towing (like a nomad valve body and TCC) towing generally means: D on flat ground, 4 on inclines, downshift before the transmission does, and use your gears on descents vs brakes. I have done those same routes to those locations from Atlanta. I would invest in a trans cooler if you plan to tow a lot. I think they are $500 from cruiser brothers and make a world of difference when you are towing.

I couldn't find the trans cooler on Cruiser Brothers. Is it just a lot bigger than the stock one?

Yeah. Just call

Has anyone done business with these guys for a valve body. I wonder if its close to the same mods as the nomad. Much less expensive since you don't have to purchase a complete new body. IPT Upgrade

Thank you for the reply and suggestions. Took the travel trailer up and down with no issues. Was a small struggle up some very steep grades but nothing the GX couldn't handle. I will probably only tow a few times a year at most so I'm not sure if installing an aftermarket trans cooler is necessary? Still wouldn't hurt to have the extra insurance.

I recommend you get a hitch insert with more drop to level your trailer.

I need to adjust the hitch. It was set up for a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I leveled it for that vehicle. I need to remove a few washers so I can level it for the GX. This was a last min trip and figured it would be ok for one trip.
