I have a three point tow bar that attaches to my front bumper for towing. Using my 1985 F250 as a tow vehicle this setup works fine. The 40 follows me wherever I go with no issues.
I now have a 2004 F250 that I attempted to tow the 40 with. The front wheels would not follow the truck. They crabbed left and I had to have my wife straighten the wheels out to proceed.
We did proceed and were able to drive it very cautiously to our local destination. On the retun trip during very slow speed manevering it did the same thing. The front tires crabbed left.
Nothing on the 40 has changed to my knowledge. (No damaged steering, suspension etc. My leaf bushings and ball joints are due for replacement after Rubithon.)
Does tow vehicle wheelbase matter? How about ball height? I made the ball height as level to the 40 bumper/tow deal as possible.
I will measure ball height on both vehicles this PM.
