Now we're adding pools to our trailers ?!?!

damn Son! that's so damn funny!

I am following along just to learn about the trailers but I certainly not interested on getting a pool on the trailer!... that would be too much!

...for that we go to South Padre Island!

carry on!

Lenny,

You could add this to your gooseneck trailer.

Those boys need a big innertube.

EDIT: Sad to say I just noticed the dude on the right is a triple nipple. You know you saw it too.

I need some tires for my 3/4 ton diesel. I would like to go to a load range E.
I have heard good things about this tire over on the pirate4x4 forum .

Michelin LTX A/S load range E
There are Claims of these tires lasting 77-100k.

The tire size I need is 285/75R16
Has anyone run them?
I will at some point be towing a 30-36 foot trailer with either 2 rigs or one rig & a slide in camper. So I want a tire that will handle that.

Post up the tires you have experience with towing.

Lenny, they may not look as good but stepping down a size to 265s will be better for towing. The truck came with 245s.

The Michelins are great tires.

Yeah . I think those small tires just don't look right on the big arse crewcab. I wil only be towing heavy loads maybe 4 to 6 times a year so the bigger tire is not that big of a deal. Really like the idea of a tire lasting as long as the claims i have been hearing about the michelins.

Go with the larger size to drop the rpm's to get you better mpg's in the d-max.

I would go with a Nitto Dura Grappler or a Firestone Transforce A/T. both you will get 60 to 80k

or the Toyo Open Country HT if they are getting this kind of mileage in and out of oil fields then you might but out 100k.

Put N2 in the tires....It does make a difference especially on the long haul.

Chris knows way more than I do about this but my customers all says these are the cats ass....

Yes for your truck only get E... Hell I mostly only run E on my LC's.

More ply's mean mo better in my book.

The Nitto Terra Grapplers that are on the 4 Runner still have about 1/3 or better and have 45k miles on them and have been at 50 to 55 psi N2 and are E's. The Terra Grappler is one of the best tires I have ever ran.

I am a tire whore/geek. They can make or break any vehicle (performance wise).

Any difference in ride quality or noise from going from D to E?

By the way...

The Cummins 5.9 is a mother humping monster...You can cruise at 55 and get close to 27mpgs in a 4 door 8 ft bed 2 zip code truck.

Or you can hit the gas and see bob marley come out the tail pipe and have sports car type acceleration if needed.

I would by one if I needed a tow truck it a second b/c my company truck has 210k and it runs great....transmission sucks balls so go for a manual but the engine is stellar.

Yes, also never run the tires at the max psi unless you are really running a big load. I drop my tires down to about 45 when not towing heavy loads. I get them up toward max when towing long range.

From the Moab thread

I for one have always put a size or two bigger tires on my trucks ever since I was 15. I have NEVER gotten any mileage improvements from lower RPMs. I think the weight and rolling mass negates it.

The 305's on my 100 series have cost me about 2 mpg. I mess with mileage obsessively. Hand check it every tank. Always have.

On my 2003 Duramax I put 285's BFG AT/KO's on it. At the time, they were the highest rated individual tires I could find at max single load of 3750 pounds @ 80# Nitto Terra Grapplers are also rated that high. I am sure Chris can find you some with higher individual rating.

Going from 245's to 285's were noticeable in power though. My truck hunted for gears more with the 285's and the mileage suffered a bit. That said, they looked much better.

When I sold that truck to Jim, he replaced the tires with 265 AT/KO's.

What year is it?

That is a huge mileage claim. I have never actually seen a Cummins geek claim 27 mpg.

My 99 gets 23 on the hwy at 70mph. Not bad for a truck with 160k

Y'all hear good things about Michelin LTX ?

chreeus can hook up cottonlanders with a smokin deal on em.. So I would like to hear some words on e?.
