I would like to tow my 93 T 100 5 speed, 4X4 behind my motorhome. Could I use a tow bar and aux brake/lighting systems, or would I have to tow the truck on a trailer? I would prefer to use a tow bar to reduce towing weight, but do not want to cause damage to the transmission. My local dealer service department said I could use a tow bar for this purpose on a manual T 100. And tow bars are made for the T 100. But could someone confirm this for me? Is anyone towing a T-100 by tow bar and does one tow it in gear or neutral with transfer case in neutral? Thanks for any help on this, Chris.

Thanks, but can I simply put transfer case in neutral and shift in neutral or 5th gear and tow T 100 with a tow bar, without doing anything else to truck such as un-hooking driveline...? I want to be able to tow the T 100 often and use it on trips without major comlications. CC.

Yes, just make sure your t-case is filled to the corect level...
Good luck,
Dan

Well, I'm glad to hear that, as a car trailer would add another 1,700 lbs to tow! My motorhome is only 22' with a healthy 454 and should handle the extra weight, but I would rather not. Thanks, CC.

You could put the transfer case in neutral or drop the rear driveshaft.

Uh... I don't know that you can do so. Marlin is the ultimate authority, but if the chain drive tcases are like the gear drives, putting the tcase in neutral and flat towing it will serve only to smoke the tcase...

Check the owners manual; it might speak to this. And **if** it does, I'd be willing to bet it says leave the tcase in 2H and the tranny in N.

I've read about what Brian speaks, on the gear drive cases Marlin claims towing in nuetral does not circulate oil thru the case, causing implosion. Dunno on the chain drive, I've never taken mine apart.

Check your manual.

Personally, if it were me, I'd disconnect the rear end of the rear driveshaft, and bungee/tie it up to the frame. Safest way to protect the drivetrain. It's only 4 bolts, that are easy to reach.
