Toss up between 2 GX470's - Opinion wanted. (1 Viewer)

I have been searching for a GX that ticked all my boxes for a little over a year and a half now. I have a 04 TRD Tacoma but have been wanting to switch to something nicer for a while and the GX is my fav option.

I am looking at 2 currently that I am debating on pulling the trigger on this weekend. Here are the details.

09 GX470 - 97k miles - Guy wants $16,700 for it (i would probably offer $15)

• 1 owner, always serviced at Lexus at every interval. Clean. Suuuuuuper clean, looks straight off the new lot.
• Spent 98% of its life in NY. Frame does not appear to have any rust.
• Here is the curveball..... It has been in 3 wrecks. Its not a salvage title or junk. From what I saw, frame and all parts lined up with no gaps. (worried about what could come up that I cant see.)
• Timing belt/pump has not been done yet.

06 GX470 - 146k miles - Guy wants $13,200

• 3 owners but all serviced at Lexus at every interval.
• California car, no rust at all.
• no wrecks
• Carpet clearly got dirty but the rest of the interior is nice. Easy carpet replacement.
• Timing belt/pump has not been done yet.

Both are blizzard pearl white with tan interior. Both have nav but I found some nice work arounds for a replacement head unit.


What do you guys think?

i just bought a mint 09 fully serviced at lexus has 140K on it. bought it from the lexus dealer that serviced it for 12K so you might be able to do better on the 06 price.

I just looked at the post. MT isn't too far of a drive and that's low miles for a decent price. I might consider it after I see some pics, but my ideal one is a white one with tan interior.

White has peeling issues and tan interior looks dirty.

That's a great price on the '09, is there any documentation from the wrecks? Were they NYC fender benders where a new plastic bumper fascia was installed and he was good-to-go?

I’m hunting for an 07-09 for 12k, preferably closer to 10k, with a good service history and no sketchiness. I hadn’t considered Lexus dealers might be selling them but not be showing up in my searches. Should I look at Lexus dealers? The hardest thing is ascertaining the condition of all the most important parts so I don’t end up with expensive repairs...i just missed out on an incredible one in Phoenix for 12k...pretty bummed. Always garaged, super mint. Went fast.
