09 GX470, new owner. I have looked on GXOR and this site and while there are a few who've used this tire size, no one doing so using FJ steel wheels (42611-35330 17x7.5J). Apologize if I missed it. So, I am wondering if anyone has 275/70r17 mounted on FJ steel wheels and will fit Eibach or similar ~2" lift. No KDSS. Mods needed? Experience, educated guess and random input appreciated.

From what I could gather, FJ steelies are +15 offset which means they will stick out about 10mm further than your OE wheels do now. People have mounted 285/70/17 on stock wheels at stock height with a little heat gun massaging on the front fender liners with no other modifications. For your plans, you should be fine with no mods or a minor heat gun massage on the liners at the most. This implies you have a good front end alignment to go along with the lift. This isn't from personal experience but from internet sleuthing coupled with a WAG.

I have the Eibach rear load leveling kit and up front the Stage 1 kit. I installed many years ago when load leveling kit first came out. I run 265/70/17 and have had zero issues rubbing. I didn’t have to adjust anything, not even fender liners. I have aftermarket wheels that are -10 offset I think, I can’t remember exactly, they are alphaequipt Deltas. Spc control arms, superpro lcas(normal size version), etc. I think you should be fine, you might have to adjust some things but no bmc. Personally the 265/70 size fits well so a little bigger will create more issues, but I doubt anything major. Just my opinion, I’m no expert.

Thanks for input. My local shop has the tire I want on discount in 275/70r17 but I think I will just pay shipping/order 265/70r17...or find another shop.

265/70/17 is what I run on DX4 Beast at 0 offset but currently at stock height. I don't get any rubbing. That said, if your alignment is s*** (like that one I got a few months ago that put my caster at 2*), you'll rub. A halfway decent alignment tech will get you squared away.

Agreed.
