Since you will be in the area this weekend, why not take a look for yourself? I'm getting some pressure on the home front to sell out all my currently non-roadworthy LandCruisers and other vehicles, so I may have to have a fire sale here and there very soon.
I have about $3K in the 80 with the new catback exhaust that I put in and the new brake parts, turning discs, etc. Unfortunately, my prior heart problems etc led to some neglect that hasn't been kind to the truck. It runs great, but it needs some rear brake work and the tranny cooling lines fixed to drive it home. The thing has been a headache since I bought it. $2K today. I'll be calling James at CruiserParts.net tomorrow to get an offer.

Changed out the drive side birf in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn in Ouray CO.

No lockers. I fixed the tranny lines today. I plan to finish the brakes in the rear next week or so. If I get it ready for the road, I will be putting it on the road.
My original plan was to put a lunchbox locker in the rear, lift it, add some agressive tires and wheel the snot out of it until the body was trashed or something expensive broke. Then I was either chop it down to a pickup like configuration or put a 45 body on it with a bed like the one that Gary Coberly-Waggoner did a few years back. I'm a depraved Cruiser owner like many of us.
If I do get it back on the road, I may eventually follow through. I'd really like to have something that I don't care if it gets f'd up or dented. That isn't the case with my Tan 40 or the FJC.
You should stop to look at it on your way back from Moose on Sunday since I'm less than 10 miles off your route home.

Glad it worked out that way for you! Parking lot repairs are way better than in the dirt! Smart move on your part and very considerate of others you might be wheeling with.
I had to delete my front sway bar on the FJC in the parking lot of the LaQuinta at Cruise Moab back in May because it was rubbing on my coilovers under compression. Pain in the ass, but better than on the rocks or in the sand and holding a bunch of other folks up.

FJ80 Tranny Cooling Lines
I tackled that pesky leak in my 80's tranny cooling lines today. I cut the metal lines above the clamp toward the front of the tranny where it was leaking and pulled out the front sections of tubing that lead to the radiator from there. Although I finally discovered that only one was leaking, they were both badly corroded. I gave them an acid bath and decided they weren't worth saving. In both cases, I cut the corroded sections completely out. Basically, the area where they were clamped must trap moisture. I had a similar problem with the PS line awhile back.
I initially bought some 3/8" tranny cooler hose, but soon found out that is impossible to thread onto the pipe more than 1/2". I went back to another parts store and bought some 7/16" fuel line. With a little lube on the end, I was able to thread it about an inch onto the stubs of the cut lines from the tranny and clamp it down. The radiator end of the original lines were easily reconnected with the OEM clamps. Unfortunately. the large diameter hose doesn't fit inside the OEM clamps that held the pipes, so I ziptied the hoses for for now. I think I can either modify the OEM clamps or make new metal loops that bolt to the original boss that will hold them in place.
I do also want to give kudos to the guy who helped at Sanel's (Sanel Auto Parts) in Concord, NH. Although he had already punched out, he came back after I had been standing there for 10 minutes and took care of me. Two feet of hose and 4 clamps was only $6.22.

Good progress on the 47 up at Wally's. Motor and driveline in, tub and firewall seam sealed & undercoated in body color Raptor Liner, gas tank in, 1/8 quarters, test fitted panels. Reassembly is fun. Miles of bodywork to go...

Sorry I didn't wheel this weekend. I worked a 20 hour shift at the end of an 80 hour work week and thought driving up to NH on 4 hours sleep may not be a great idea.

I tried my hand at welding today, I have been watching a buddy of mine weld for a while, I did some stick welding in high school but this is a lot different. I have found that I like welding, its kinda fun, I need a lot more practice before I do anything structural, I used to be nervous about it, but its not so bad.
I got to learn also. Think I will get a welder within a month or so and start practicing. Not sure what to get though.

I took a night class at the local high school. I think Lane did something similar. I can get by.
At this point I have 2 certified welders and my buddy who can weld very good giving me tips, hopefully I learn
some ugly weld pic's
