Couple more of the rear. Doesn't look like the shock mounts will line up unless it moves back 1.5" with some weight on it.

Jason, I saw your email post about your rear springs to alcan. I keep looking at the pics too. Maybe its the pics or the angle or even just me, but they do look short and the look kind of thin, like the leaf stack is too small. I took a peak at my troopy springs just to compare. I have a set of 2.5" lift springs too(OME) on the ground. They don't look like they have the reach issue you seem to be having. Again, I may be way off base here as its just a judgement from a pic. I think you are correct in questioning Alcan on it. They almost look like 40 springs rather than 45 springs...

I just took a pic of the Old Man Emu 2.5 spring for the troopy...

Sorry if this is not much help as it doesn't show how things line up with the spring and frame...

They look short but alcan said once weight was on there it will flatten which does make sense.

I emailed Charles and he wanted some measurements. I also put on a stock shackle which should be able to be run according to their website. With the shackle on I lifted the truck with the shackle in place it didn't even flex down like it was locked in place.

The last pic is of the front which I would have expected the springs to look like.

Thanks. Can you take a measurement eye to eye for me?

straight across 48" middle of the eye to mid eye

length of spring...roughly 54ish

This was done in the dark and rain so it was quick...I'll recheck tomorrow to make sure it was the rear spring

hey Jason that spring doesn't look right :)
does your 45 share the smae rears as the troopy?is there any weight on the springs or is the frame fully supported by jackstnds

In that picture the axle was on the ground with the weight of the frame on it. I was able to lift it like that and the shackle stayed there.

My new spring measure 46.5" eye to eye and the old ones were 48.5". Hangar to hangar is 50"

I believe the 45 series share the same spring. The only change that I know of is the bolt size change from 15mm to 18mm. I think that happens in 1980 and up.

I geuss I should have clarified the lv and the swb share the same rear springs and the troopy and the lpb share the same rear springs, I just can't remeber if he has the swb or the lpb. I am wondier if they made the swb springs for him instead of the longer lpb(roopy springs. for my lv alcan made me straight up 40 front springs which while are the same length as the lv (and swb) they differ in the ssframe eyes for the shackle and spring pin dimensions. it has made for some fugly front shackles and led me to SR the front end
anyway

Its a 77 long wheel base. I think the "L" stands for left hand drive so would that just make it a pb? Anyway mine came with the 15mm pin in the front and a 18mm pin in the rear. I think its the same as the FJ40 front spring.

As far as I know the long wheel base FJ45's share the same chassis and the SWB and LV share the same but shorter chassis.

I built a sheet metal brake in welding class tonight. Next week I'm going to make a bench top bearing press. Then I'm going to make speaker stands.

Working in this class is making me lazy, so I'm trying to take advantage of the equipment while I still can.

Are those Stockton wheels? Heavy duty looking.
That getting crawler gears?
