great, how long did that take?

Took about 4 hours or so. It probably would have gone a little quicker if I had powerwashed them first. Funny how the blaster hits a little bit of caked on grease and dirt and just doesn't want to cut through it.

I was talking to Wally at the Fall Gathering and I guess that he rented a trailered compressor and blast unit to do Randy's troopie. He said he had the troopie blasted in about 4 hours.

My 60 gallon compressor does alright its just not that quick. The blaster does about 40lbs of material but it goes quick so you end up filling it up frequently.

I think that i've already gone through almost 20 bags between the frame and the axles. Probably would have been cheaper to have someone do it. I have a ton of sand on the side of my garage. I should pick up a screen and start sifting through some of it.

Was it easy to replace? Did you do the timing belt at the same time. I'm guessing these things have timing belts.

You work anymore?

How many coats of primer prior to paint. :p Do you feel light headed or dizzy?:D

Using the SEM rust shield. You spray it directly over metal out of the can.

Rattler or gun? Looks good.

Used a gun even though they make rattle cans. It was cheaper to get a gallon and it seems to go a long way.

You work anymore?

I try to as little as possible. :D I had a couple days off over the past week but didn't get as much done on the Cruiser as I wanted to.

Looks great Jason. Want to sell them now?

Still going to require a little more work before I get them to where I need them to be. Gotta call Cruiser Outfitters to get my knuckle and rear axle kits.

nice high gloss black axles, what's next....chrome spinners?

After reading Matt's FJ45lpb thread he said he liked the gloss as it would fade. Thinking back I probably should have gone with the regular black as the gloss is really glossy. It should match my 22" rims nicely :grinpimp:

Thanks for the comments. I am planning on switching to disk brakes so I didn't bother cleaning up the brakes. After blasting I wanted to make sure I got at least one coat of paint of before they started to rust.

Rattle can gloss will touch up good enough down the road if they fade, especially once you get them dirty. They're axles on a truck you'll actually drive and wheel with so I wouldn't overthink it

Sweet dude! You gonna mount some 54's on them 22's? That would be bling!

No, the 1NZ-FE has a timing chain and the water pump is run by the accessory belt. Easier than replacing a water pump on a 2F. One belt, no fan to deal with. Now, if I didnt lose the radiator cap while I was filling it, I'd say it was a piece of cake...
